Highlights from yesterday's Jokerit 45th Anniversary game.

Valtteri's goal at the beginning of the clip. Older Filppula's goal after Valtteri's.

Jokerit was formed in 1967 from a team previously known as Töölön Vesa so the fans had made tifo that was displayed just before the start of the game.

Some pictures from yesterday's game. Mainly Valtteri. You can see the rest from here: http://www.jokerit.com/uutiset/?nid=2073

And behold, Jokerit third jersey has no ads!

Valtteri scores:

Main thing is that Babcock wants shoot-first players. Brunner is a shoot-first player.

And we need right handed shooters in the 1-2 lines. We have been laking those since Hull, Shanahan, and Yzerman were gone.

Brunner would not be a difference maker for some other teams, but for us, I highly predict he will be. We have superb playmakers to make him shine. He will fit in (this is just superb bonus that he can build chemistry and relationship with Zetterberg alrady) and will be a good 2nd line sniper, maybe with potential to be a 1st PP threat.

He is just too good.

CSKA won 4-2.

Pavel 1+2. Here is the goal. http://www.championat.com/video/hockey/v/59/59333.html

And a nice pass to... Grabovsky. We should make a trade for him. They have some good chemistry.

http://www.championat.com/video/hockey/v/59/59321.html

And finally Marchenko scored again. Third game in a row. Move over Pulkkinen.

Actually, 3rd goal was credited to Radulov; Marchenko with an assist. But it was a beautiful shot.

A couple possible streams for tonight's FBK-Jokerit game. I have no idea if they'll work or not.

Besides the match penalty, it looks like Brunner got beat up by their goalie

You know you are playing a swiss goalie when he's the most aggressive player on his team

I wanted to post a new thread, but I'm under strict scrutiny by the HFBOARDS Cemsors.

So here's a question/scenario
Say the lockout comes to an end.
Say Datsyuk wants to stay in Russia and doesn't want to come back to play 60 games for 75 percent of his salary.
But Datsyuk says he does want to comeback next year.

Can the Wings suspend him for the rest of the season..
And then get two full years of Datsyuk (instead of the one remaining season?)

Well they would start tolling his contract based on this year so I assume that is correct. It is an interesting scenario.

While were at it: The depth of the weak Zug defense will even get worse. Defenseman Blatter will surely get suspended for his hit against Ambühl in the same game:

OT - Just for your information:

Blaser got "steinibanned" for 7 games.

I wish the Swedish league was more like the Swiss league. 7-4 Zug. Zetterberg 2+2. Brunner 1+0.

Z is the hottest player in the world right now aside from maybe Justin Schultz. Did Lids finally share his anti-aging secret with Z after he retired? Really nice to see him getting the bounces and playing as good as he is.

Well, he's a beast on big ice I guess that helps. But I think the start of last season may have been a wakeup call, he wasn't happy with that. Since then he's almost looked like 2008 Z.

1 assist moved from Z to Brunner, so Z 2+1 and Brunner 1+1

Mursak 1+0, -1
Ericsson 0+0, +/-0, 2 SOG

Glad to see the ZugWings are sharing.

Mursak must have had an off night.

In my estimation, this is going to be a rough year anyhow, even if we do have a season and Datsyuk plays.

Highlights of the Zug-Biel game:
http://www.bluewin.ch/de/index.php/1...=132733&page=1

Zetterberg had 2g & 2a (including an awesome shorthander), Brunner had 1g.
Kane also scored a nice goal for Biel.

TSN article on Z and Brunner

Quote:
"Detroit said they were going to put (Brunner) on a line with Zetterberg, so I got to do it first," Zug coach Doug Shedden said Wednesday in an interview. "I texted (Red Wings GM) Kenny Holland and said: `It works."'

Weird move.
Because to me, if you want to put a right-handed shoot-first guy with someone, put him with Pavel

Z is much more of a playmaker since leaving Pavel. Either way I think the plan is to play Samuelsson and Brunner on the right in the top 6. So both are right handed shooting trigger guys. I think he will be fine with either guy although Pavel gives a lot more of those breakout passes for breakaways, so he might eventually win out with Brunner. I just think the lockout has probably been the best thing for Brunner. He is going to come over with high confidence having outscored a lot of NHL players, thinking he belongs and with the built in chemisty of playing with Z. If it ends in season he comes over and tears up the AHL for a week before training camp too in my opinion.

By the way as much as he seems to like playing with Z does anyone think he doesn't re-up with the Wings if the season wipes out, something we don't talk about a lot but I had wonder about when he first went back.
