Wow Jones is looking incredible. What about Loktionov - I feel like trading him might be a mistake ala Purcell.

An entire season in Manchester might be the best thing that ever happens for Loktionov's development.

I hope it can help him with his mental game. He really needs that "I'm going to score and you aren't going to stop me" mentality.

Part of his regimen in Manchester should be watching all the battle scenes in Gladiator, then hypnotize him into thinking he's Maximus.

I know its not a popular position around here but I though Lotionov was our 3rd best center last year. He played with very mediocre wingers under a bad system but I thought he looked better then Stoll. I'm not at al surprised that hes doing well in the AHL right now. Kid has a ton of skill and poise with the puck, I thought he was very good defensiveley as well.

They couldn't find a slightly smaller picture of Hickey? You can literally count the hairs on his chin...

He still needs to add some ******* muscle but I agree. I'm more than likely his biggest fan but even I know he's going to get destroyed if he doesn't bulk up at least a bit. He still can get bullied in the AHL and guys are a lot stronger at the NHL level.

Yeah. It wouldn't shock me at all. While I'd love for Lokti to make it in LA, he's clearly not ever going to get adequate playing time and a good opportunity now with Stool re-signed.

Highlights (aka Jeff Zatkoff owning us) of tonight's game verse the Penguins. Interviews with, Morris, Jones, and Zatkoff

Zatkoff won the game for the Pens. Monarch out shot the Pens and go some quality shots, just couldn't catch a break and Zats had a great game. Jones was also great! Just didn't get the bounces tonight. 7 games into the season and they really haven't had a bad game yet. Both loses were due to short periods of the game where they either turn the puck over (ie: Jones/Lokti in the home opener) or took dumb penalties (ie: Andreoff tonight) He got a double minor for roughing when he went after the Pen player of a big but clean hit on Bodnarchuk. Love him standing up for his teammate but when your down 1-0 and facing a hot goalie. You can't do stuff like that!

Still kind of disappointed we couldn't retain Zaktoff. I've always been high on him. Glad to hear he's doing well though.

Agreed, I think he could be a solid NHL backup. I think he will get his chance to earn a backup job behind Fleury in the near future (next year with a Vokoun trade or the year after when Vokoun departs with just Thiessen/Killeen/Pechurskiy/average NHL backup as competion), so we will see shortly...goalie are so hard to predict, look at Nolan Schaefer's inability to become even an NHL backup.

Agreed about Bodnarchuk those have commented on him, every Monarchs game I watch he impresses on that blueline, big tough defender that can skate, love what I see out of him, he could be a very solid depth player for LA...the blueline in the LA is just so sick right now with lots of talent and ridiculous amount of talent knocking on the door (Hickey (oft healthy scratched, after AHL all-star appearance ), Muzzin, Bodnarchuk, Kolomatis (very impressive start to the year), Campbell (solid effective depth defender) all are very very close if not NHL ready) and plenty of depth moving forward (Forbort, Gravel, Roach). Defense will definitely not be problem for many many years...

I thought that Zatkoff should have been given a one year or two year deal to be backup. I also thought we should have pulled the trigger on a Bernier trade in July or so, but what do I know.

Monarchs signed defensemen Mike Mitczak out of the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings due to injures to Andrew Campbell and David Kolomatis

Loktionov also appears to be day to day, and maybe out for today's game verse the Sharks. He was banged up friday night verse the Penguins

This officiating is downright awful today. The last 3 or 4 penalties on the Monarchs have all been complete phantom calls.

Voynov just got an interference penalty with a little over 4 minutes left for finishing a check right as a player dumped the puck across the blueline. Just bad bad bad.

They signed him to a tryout I believe because Campbell and Kolomatis are both injured (doesn't look good for them).

Jones is a terrible shootout goalie. Probably below Bernier-level, and that's saying something.

That's a great comparison. He was floundering out there.

Would have helped if the Monarchs didn't let it get that far, though.

They did not look like a good team either game this weekend.
