And he's been good too. He's just so smart... His passing work is art at times, nothing flashy but makes almost always the best possible play.

After 7 games and 9 (2+7) points, Jokinen is going back to NA. 7 of those points were scored during a power play, including both of his goals.

A. Stew has 1g 2a in 4 games in the Elite League.

He's ranked 93rd in the league based on scoring.

Great little video from CBC on Stewart: LINK

In six games he has 2+3 with 4 PIMs.

Pretty damning tweets by Luke a little bit ago. He's not really wrong.

Luke DeCock (@LukeDeCock) tweeted at 10:21 AM on Tue, Oct 23, 2012:
You seriously could not come up with a worse lockout scenario for the Hurricanes than three compelling fb teams and three top-25 bkb teams.

Luke DeCock (@LukeDeCock) tweeted at 10:19 AM on Tue, Oct 23, 2012:
All that work the Hurricanes did this summer to build excitement, wiped out. Road back onto the radar in this market longer than ever now.

What do "fb" and "bkb" stand for?

Football and basketball, regarding to NC State, UNC, and Duke. All are enjoying relative amounts of success in football, and all are projected to do well in basketball this year. The focus of the people in the Triangle is on that rather than hockey, due to the lockout.

13games 7goals 5assists 12points
Tlusty doing well in the Czech Extraliga

Skinner went to Charlotte, but basically he's just practicing with the team. I think the idea was if the lockout went on longer than expected (or hoped), that he would eventually suit up.

Skinner seems to still not know what he's doing.

Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip
Asked Jeff Skinner today about his plans. His reply: "I'm not really ruling out any options right now. I'm just looking into everything."

Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip
Skinner said he was working off-ice with Gary Roberts five days a week and skating three times a week in Toronto.

And no more Bieber?

Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip
By way, Skinner now has a bit of a flow. Said he decided "change it up" and let his hair "grow for a while."

Skinner needs to be more decisive. Both on and off the ice. I'm sure it would benefit him greatly. I mean, some of his best plays are the ones where he says "**** it, I'll do it myself".

How many 20-year old NHLers aren't playing somewhere by now? This is ridiculous. Jeff Skinner's commitment to his development is disgraceful. The Hurricanes invest $5.75M/yr in this clown and he can't even show up to an AHL training camp.

Having talked to Jeff numerous times during his OHL days, I'm positive he dosen't think "I'm too good for the AHL and it's beneath me to play there". Rather I believe his thought is that: by him playing there he's hurting the development (and having a financial impact) on somebody who needs it more than he does.... just sayin

Honestly I was hoping he'd have signed in Sweden or something by now. Hard to imagine that he couldn't find a taker if he wanted to do so. Now whether or not there are issues with doing so (since he's still on an ELC and eligible to play in the AHL) that's another matter entirely.

McBain joins Pelicans (FEL). The contract will last the whole season if the lockout does not end. Source.

McBain signs with the Pelicans of Finnish SM-league. Will most likely get high minutes and a lot of PP time.

edit: Too slow..

I guess I've never viewed decisiveness as an issue with Skinner on the ice. In the defensive zone, yeah...but I attribute that to the fact that he is young, inexperienced and really just now playing wing after playing C for most of his career. In the offensive zone though, he's been fairly decisive, confident and not hesitant at all. "Doing it himself" and decisiveness are two different things.

All that said, I guess at this point I'd rather see him playing (somewhere) rather than just training. With his work ethic, I suspect he is working hard, just that at his age, I'd rather see him playing more.

You can have Stewart back. He's working on the bare minimum effort level, we'll have Skinner instead, yeh?
