That sucks. Just saw 2.5 million here in Jersey have no power. We lost power about 5:00pm yesterday and thought that was the start of it. But 30 minutes later it popped back on!. Just got in after doing a survey of the yard and other than a ton of branches and leaf cleanup we are good to go. With all the wind here we were lucky. Looks like the shore really took a hit. I have some pals who own homes in Margate and North Wildwood and are going back in later today or Weds to check them out. I saw the Gov on TV and he is pissed about the Mayor of AC. Hang in there Snake. I hope you get your power back on soon.
PS I am located midway between Philly and AC.

hi all, I made it alive, well and the amazing part is my house never lost power. I live in roxbrough area near walnut lane golf course and delassandros.
im on the other side of the bridge where the circle is near wissahickon / cliveden / lincon drive area. some parts are without power and alot of down trees.
overall my house surived and did well, my patio did well, i will need to re caux some of the foundation of the blocks around the steps of the patio but everything did well. the only other thing that sucked was my car battery died and so i have to get a new one and will need to use septa next few days till i get the new car battery outside of that im ok.
i also hope to get word on my parents, there place is in mays landing NJ, yes right near where sandy first came ashore, they arent on the barrier islands but they were close to it. I believe my aunt got a text saying they are ok, but no power and they are still hunkerdown. but I think there cell phones are not on due to they can't charge them.
so bottom line and overall i say im ok and I hope all of you are ok to.
also not sure if you all got this, but i was at radioshack, got a battery power alarm clock, and universal battery power cell phone charger i also got a 20 pack of batteries. works very well
also all my verizon fios services worked well during the hole storm the internet worked very well.
so my wishes go out to all of you and hope you all have a good outcome, and to those of you who have a rough time a head i hope the best for you.
i will say this overall about the whole thing. i noticed CSN has been basiaclly simulcasting NBC 10 during the sandy coverage.
probably the biggest shocker of all of this was seeing,
the mayor of AC defying the governors orders to mandatory get all of people out of AC.
in heinz sight he did well in having 4 shelters, but he has to be the stupidest mayor of all time. 1 of the shelters is a 1 block off the bay and basically it was all covered in water. I mean the mayor basically put all of those people in a possible deathly situation, i hope the emergancy people got in saved everyone but if anyone died, i mean that mayor should be removed from office.
i apologize for making this quote about polictics but he was stupid not evac when the order was given.
they have a guy at Matunuck,RI on the weather channel. Some people lost 45 feet of beach front property and lost their house from this storm.
Unbelievable.

Did you see when he was talking to the one guy and randomly turned to him and said "I'm sorry you lost your house" and ended the interview abruptly?

Just when i thought i escaped mother nature a tree finally fell down on wissahickon ave and knocked otu my power around noon yesterday i finally got it back on at 5am this Am.
peco sent 8 trucks out. they got here at 8pm worked all night long.
Got hit pretty hard by the storm. Every tree on my property is down or coming down. House managed to survive but its going to be either time consuming or expensive (or both) getting the trees cleaned up. Lost power at about 3:30 Monday, but it came back at like 7 last night. I live like five minutes from LBI now and lived there until I graduated college. From what I understand talking to people who stayed behind, it is pretty much destroyed. 4-5 feet of sand covering streets. Major gas leaks. Houses destroyed. Dunes destroyed. Just devastating.
Wow...NJ and NYC really got KO'd with the walls of water. Really going to need a bipartisan effort (public and private) to get things back on track..
Christie really seemed shaken up about the losses at the Jersey shore....the shore of his and other NJ residents childhood as he noted his presser. Of course, I'm sure the governor can do without some cotton candy and corn dogs for a while...ok that was wrong...

Good news! Besides state-side emergency management agencies, FEMA can provide focused, non-political support.
Bad news! They'll eventually need additional funding to do it properly.
It's more the problem of having to deal with a mom that not only drinks heavily, but on top of that is going insane basically with the lack of power. So I have to live with thst ****. Considering I also have no job, boredom is a hell of a thing.
I actually have the opposite problem...my dad is insane when it comes to things like this..driving my poor mom nuts and it comes full circle to me. My parents live in Bucks and they have had no power since sunday night..their street is basically one of the only ones in the neighborhood not restored yet. I told them that is not good b/c they are concentrating on the big jobs..the small jobs they are going to leave till last. I'm glad I've been on my own for the last 15+ years and my place only lost power for a minimal amount of hours while I was asleep anyway..
On a side note...I think Gov Christie is going to sit on the MacLeish family for this! Every "family" has its idiots...
Quote:
The wife of former Flyers star Rick MacLeish reported that she, her husband and their dog, Gus, survived Hurricane Sandy on Monday - and even had a visit from a fish.
Rick MacLeish and his wife, Charlene, are year-round residents of Ocean City, N.J., and they disregarded Gov. Christie's orders to evacuate the island. Instead, they stayed in their Bay Avenue home and waited out the hurricane.
Charlene MacLeish said there was minor damage to the home, noting that a small part of a stucco wall at the bottom of the house came off.
"But there were no other issues," she said on Tuesday.
I cut down a bunch of down trees that were sitting on my neighbor's house. Any idea of what to do with the lawn full of tree branches and stumps without paying mass amount of money to get rid of them?

Won't the city organize pick up? I would think so, just wait a few days and see what they do. It's probably not a priority right now.
