Oil Kings acquire Musil from Giants

So the rumors are true and we'll get to watch our own prospect as an Oil King.

We gave up a lost less than I expected to. I figured Vancouver would want maybe Wruck or St. Croix to send Musil our way.

Musil only has 1 season left in the WHL, same likely goes for Wruck and St. Croix. Wouldn't do Vancouver much good.

I really liked Geertsen though and would have traded a couple other dmen before him. But Musil is a huge upgrade, great trade.

Great move for the Oil Kings. Their D needed help. Musil is a big addition that can help patch the hole until Gernat gets back

Cool. I'm a big Musil fan and I'm sure he'll be happy playing in Edmonton with fellow Oilers prospects Gernat, Moroz and Ewanyk. Hope to see him play at the WJC!

I'm of mixed emotions. I never like to give up a first-rounder but the OKs are clearly going all out to win the national championship this season. It does sacrifice some of our future, however. I don't think this was a steal of a deal. If we don't win this year, I don't think it will have been worth it. Our defense will be really good once Gernat returns.

Nice. Look forward to see him play. Oil Kings certainly needed some help on the back end.

Huge pick up for the OK's and great for us fans.
Surprisingly not much going back to the Giants for him either. Was Geertson a rookie?

Didn't think they would actually do this. It's going to be awesome seeing Musil play in our backyard. Sad to see Geertsen leave though. I wish I watched him more when I had the chance.

His second season, he played as a 16 year old last season. He's a defensive defenseman, but as tough as they come. I could see him being a 1st rounder this year. He's in the mold of a McIlrath or Petrovic only much tougher.

What the Oilers are doing with the Oil Kings is pretty interesting. No NHL team has had such a partnership with a CHL team as far as I know. I wonder if it will have any tangible effect on development down the road...

If anything.. at least it should make the Oil Kings more interesting to locals.

I think thats a huge part of the deal. Adding him for 3/4 of the season is HUGE for the OK's

Apparently Vancouver is sucking balls this year, so it's probably a good thing for Musil to come to a contender. Plus he's Oiler property so that's good as well. Plus the Oil Kings have a really good coach so that's good as well. Plus we have another prospedt to watch, so that's a good thing for the fans.

All in all it's a good thing for Edmonton.

Yep. I'm not even sure if they're going to win another game for the rest of the year now . I'm glad I didn't buy season tickets

Pysyk was a big loss in the offseason, so this is a welcomed move. Gernat injury too. When he comes back, they should be in great shape:

Reinhart - Musil
Lowe - Gernat
Corbett - Sautner
Mayo

(when healthy)

Top 4 is back to being a top end junior group.
