depending on where we draft and what is available to us at that position i think our needs are snipers, dman, centers.

if we do well and draft 15th+ i'd like to see us take a look at one of the Swedish dman, like Robert Haag

Hypothetical for a moment: Full season lockout and the Wild win the draft lottery, Jones or MacKinnon as of this moment? I go with MacKinnon 10 times out of 10 I think.

MacKinnon no doubt. Though I do see this as a Stamkos/Doughty draft. Wouldn't mind having either one.

For the Wild, MacKinnon. We need a scorer and he is one.

But Jones isn't a bad choice either obviously.

I'm trying to think of teams that could swing the argument Jones' way, and all I'm coming up with right now is Edmonton. I guess Detroit might need to give Jones some heavy thought too, but they have so many needs, not just along their blue line.

The right choice would be Mackinnon, I think. But imagine a blue line with Jones, Brodin, Dumba, and Suter?

Bah. Gawd.

it has to be MacKinnon, isn't he being compared to Sid, i mean to get a huge talent up front like that would be insane, i have a feeling Jones will not go 2nd or 1st, more in the 5ish range.

I think he was compared to him a season ago because he came through Shattuck St.Marys then went to QMJHL etc etc but not in terms on MacKinnon being a generational talent.

Sort of like how Brodin was compared to Lidstrom. Guys like Kronwall weren't saying he's the next Lidstrom, they were saying he played a similar style and stuff like that.

You gotta go with mackinnon, the wild need another shooter, some one that can fill heatleys spot for example in the future on the top line. If Barkov's stock keeps going up, you have to consider him too I think. I just want a top 5 pick. Is there potential for a team like us to get so stacked with prospects that we cant pay them all? I would be tempted to pick barkov over jones, am I crazy to think that? Barkov is doing great

my top 5
1. mackinnon
2. barkov
3. jones
4. monahan
5. shinkaruk

Drouin is definitely underrated. It's probably because he's on the same team as MacKinnon so he gets less talks. He's tougher to play against if you compare him to MacKinnon IMHO.

He's simply great to watch.

That would really surprise me, but I've been surprised many times in the past.

Parise - MacKinnon - RW
Granlund - Koivu - RW

vs.

Suter - Brodin
Jones - Dumba

Interesting, to say the least...

Barkov would definitely be an interesting player to have, especially as he can be considered the next Mikko Koivu - on steroids.

We could also have a 1-2 punch of Barkov - Granlund at center then, or even use Barkov at C and Granlund at wing.

Well, our #1 need is a sniper with wheels right now, but then again, one should never draft for needs.

If we a high pick, we should consider trading for another 1st, say in the late 18-25 range, or even higher.

Say, Phillips + 2014 3rd + 2015 5th for, like, 18th pick? Would a team do that?

This'll get interesting for Minnesota:

2013-2014:
Heatley - Koivu - Parise
Setoguchi - Granlund - Coyle

My question is; do we jettison Setoguchi next year? What happens to Zucker, Phillips? Where would MacKinnon or our 2013 prospect go? They aren't going to wait in the minors forever.

I'd say:

2013-2014:

Parise - Koivu - Heatley (he prefers RW IIRC)
Bulmer - Granlund - Setoguchi (Bulmer adds some sandpaper to an otherwise soft line)
Zucker - Brodziak - Bouchard (because, hey, why not?)
Mitchell - Konopka/Powe - Clutterbuck
Veilleux/Kassian

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Stoner/Falk
Scandella - Gilbert
Kampfer/Prosser

Harding
Hackett

I really doubt that Bulmer would be playing 2nd line over Coyle and Zucker
