We might have to start calling them the Edmonton uglies with all of the facial injuries.

Actually he thinks it was an accident because Granlund is also a NHL-player per Nuge.

Seriously, Nuge was "targeted" by Granlund's stick? So a prospect who has been called by many as better than RNH sacrificed himself to try take the holy one down? A player who had about 15 seconds of penalty time per game over three seasons in a European pro league is a dirty cheapshot thug? This is ridiculous even by Edmonton standards.

Edit: Wanted to note I'm talking about Edmonton fans and writers. From the article it sounds like RNH went out of his way to try brush this off as just hockey but the writer just kept pressing to try make him say he's being targeted.

Granlund is turning into Butcher-like goon
It's a curse. Every time we've got a talented youngster in our otherwise boring and mediocre hockey team, the force of the Dark Side is calling them.

He needs to listen some Yoda-wisdoms carefully.

“Size matters not, .. Look at me. Judge me by size, do you?”
“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
"Beware of the dark side. Anger...fear...aggression. The dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight."
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will..."
"You will know (the good from the bad) when you are calm, at peace. Passive." ( A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack. )

Targeted and accident are not in any way able to be used together.

RNH feels he is targeted, now if he is talking about being targeted and it's an accident he is a dummy, you can't have a "targeted accident" he feels he's a target and is saying but oh it was probably an accident, see it makes zero sense.

RNH isn't talking about being targeted. The author is desperately trying to make that a story, but aside from a comment from Hall about "players taking a few more liberties" the players aren't taking the bait.

did you read the article? the author said RNH was quick to say don't use the high stick as an example of targeting.

why wouldn't people take a few more liberties. you're going to focus your **** disturbing on certain players at every level. the players getting targeted don't talk about it because it usually ends up sounding like whining or bragging. I couldn't pull up a quote or anything but guys doing the targeting have acknowledged it. that's what "going after the key players" means.

I see it as RNH thinks he is getting some extra attention on the ice from opposing teams. Not the same as thinking this particular accident would have been targeting.

Oilers and their media complaining, making excuses, and blaming everyone else but themselves....it's like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. Never fails.

Of course RNH is going to be targeted in both the minors and the NHL. (And this is in general...has nothing to do with that game against the Aeros.) If their media hasn't come to terms with that, then they need to find a new day job. He's a top prospect who's still new on the scene. Guys want your tail. And RNH is only in the minors due to the lockout. He's an up and coming NHLer who has a lot of potential, and nothing would please a career minor-leaguer more than to rough him up. And when the lockout is over, NHLer's are gonna be after his arse. Consider it a compliment.

Honestly, I've had a fear of Granlund getting targeted. When there is some hype, there will be guys going after the player to make a point. Doesn't make it right, but it's expected. If the Oilers are gonna gripe every time someone takes some extra liberties with one of their young guys, then it's gonna be a long season after season after season for them. Call it karma for those years of tanking to get all those high draft picks.

Not surprised that an Edmonton news site is biased toward the Edmonton Oilers. Why is anybody else?

Wow, just read the article. The writer should be ashamed. That's some of the worst journalism I've ever seen.

The story is a reach at best. I was happy to see a win against a stacked team though...

Stupid article by someone looking for a story..Funny how they don't mention anything about which player high sticked RNH and how the player(Granlund) rarely takes a penalty..

I would say player of the month is the best regardless, rookie is just for rookies. the best players in the ahl just happen to be all rookies..
