I am sure this has been brought up earlier...

But.

AM I the only one who has a big problem with these millionaire NHL players displacing other hockey players who really need to make a basic living.

On one hand it is rah rah NHLPA UNION ... then in almost the same breath they are booking airfare and engaging in the most despicable of UNION activities by acting like scabs.

Shame.

But they're not on strike, they're locked out.

I understand that they are 'locked out' and it is different.

I was careful not to be so inflammatory in my words. They are not a traditional union in that their wages are not collectively bargained by the union. Each player enlists the services of their own lawyer/agent to negotiate their compensation and working conditions.

But the players headed overseas are among the highest paid in the game who are about to get significant compensation in the form of escrow. Some as much as a half million dollars.

So I am sorry I feel it is poor that these millionaires are the ones screwing those who really need the employment to feed their families out of the jobs that they otherwise would have enjoyed.

Bissonnette did manage to put up over .5 ppg when he played for the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL, so he might be a decent player in that league. I think in general enforcers still have more hockey ability than guys on this board that didn't play junior, D-1, or some form of professional hockey.

i know the khl players who are being replaced are still being payed, not sure about the other leagues. besides if you lose a job in a lower league than they are in the wrong business or hopefully they did it understanding the risk in pursuing a hockey career, its an extremely competitive environment.

Honestly I think there are many British guys in our league who are better hockey players than Biznasty. We have guys in our league like Jade Galbraith who put up very good numbers in the ECHL while having terrible work ethic and poor commitment.

That was as a defenseman as well. He was actually a decent defenseman in the ECHL.

They can do it. I think you're right in one sense the KHL is setting up like a NA sports league so at some point this is probably going to happen over there. Now a bunch couldn't take NHL jobs right now. But you can bet some player would be punted to the AHL for a Kuznetsov if that happens in the future. My guess is the NHLPA would have a big problem with that.

Awesome news, Zbynek would be a fantastic addition to what already is the best D in the league.

Bissonnette has (as a defenseman) 69 points in 101 ECHL games (0,68 PPG), so it's not like he's a total scrub. Could easily be a PPG player in EIHL.

BizNasty's reputation has suffered from the media attention, just like Tim Tebow in NFL. Decent player, who gets lots of hate because of the buzz around him.

Peter Regin -> Lukko Rauma

http://www.iltasanomat.fi/nhl/art-1288513236539.html

Every single Danish NHL-player plays now in Finland. Regin, Boedker, Nielsen and Larsen in Lukko, Hansen in Tappara and Eller in JYP.

That Regin move is "still on the ice."

But it´s great to hear that all the NHL-players here at FEL are saying, that this is the closest league comparing to NHL playstyle. Karsson said it before and then Robidas: "SM-Liiga is very good league, because every night you get tough games. I knew it's physical here but I didn't know it's going to be this physical."

So if you want NHL-style games, welcome here Its sad tho that we have very bad refs here

Well so far he's got 2 goals 1 assist in 2 games. I'm not 100% sure if he's playing D or forward though, Cardiff released one of their D imports prior to the signing so I assume he's playing D.

So far all the NHL'ers in the league except Anthony Stewart have more than a PPG, but I expect them to slow down their pace as the season goes on since it will be a big transition for them going from playing 3rd/4th line minutes to playing 20+ minutes a game.

The Alaska Aces have signed NHL star forward Scott Gomez to a standard player contract, Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Wednesday. Gomez attended training camp this season with the Aces, but has not played in the regular season. He will make his season debut next week when the Aces return home to host the Colorado Eagles on November 14, 16, and 17.
