Sorry couldn't keep everyone here updated. Cali life is a busy and stressful one right now. You guys saw one helluva storm. Biblical in nature. So much energy carried right into the coasts.
live in westbury long island, nassau/queens border. my block got DESTROYED during irene but we did way better this time around. all our trees got knocked over last year so there was nothing for this storm to take. we lost power early monday and got it back late last night, so nothing too bad.
the issue right now is getting gas...has anybody even been able to do it? i have some gas jugs but it can only hold a couple gallons. i want to fill my tank up and it's been pretty much impossible to do.
I'm reading some reports that there could be another storm system developing that might impact the area next week? This is not another hurricane but potentially a Nor'easter.
Another storm is exactly what the mid-Atlantic and Northeast coast don’t need. But the European Centre Medium Range Forecast (EURO) model is forecasting exactly that this time next week.
Yeah it's a possibility but more of a typical storm we see around here. Another one of those "depending on when it phases, when this, when that.." etc. I wouldn't really be worried about it much as of right now. Euro was spot on with Sandy but it's a bit far away at the moment.

The storm could further saturate the soil and with even 20mph gusts topple more trees and poles that are on the razor's edge. As for the projection, Europe is spot on with most things concerning the climate and weather...
Where I'm working right now in Westchester almost every telephone pole along the street looks like it's ready to come down. If there's any sort of uptick in the wind next week there could be serious problems.
Just waited an hour and a half for gas. Put half a gallon into my tank before they ran out.
Bad luck Brian strikes again.

Seriously. Can't take much more of this. Gas has become so scarce that I have people fighting each other over it around here. Its like some apocalypse movie ********.
Want to know where to get gas in your town? Check out this inventory link that is updated every couple of hours. Note you should only visit stations that show more then 5,000 gallons to account for lines already there. Scroll to find your state/town.
In case any of you either can't get to work, or your job is closed and can't open because of the hurricane, you are able to get unemployment through fema to help you out for the time being.

If you think it's bad now wait until there is a financial collapse and bank runs.
They can't even properly respond to a small section of the country undergoing disruption following a disaster.
Now would be a good time for those to stock up on supplies for self preparedness for those who have the financial resources to do so.

Hey should we be concerned about this pending Nor'easter next week?

I see/hear waiting 5 hours or more for gas. I drove to mount laurel, nj from north jersey no lines for gas anywhere. Drove back in 1 hr. still have almost full tank of gas.
I live in Staten Island power went out 10pm monday and i just got it back an hour ago. I have a bunch of friends that lost homes. Its just devastating here. I hope everyone here that posts is safe as well as their families.
