huge fan of Bulmer, but until he shows some offense at the AHL level he won't be playing in the top six outside a period or two when the coaches think someone is shamming it.

It's not impossible though. I mean, he'd be an excellent fit there as he's aggressive but not a complete nutjob, has decent speed and hands and a good shot. Why not? I mean, of course it depends how he does with the Aeros. But I definitely think it's possible, albeit not very likely.

I still want to see Zucker - Phillips - Coyle line too I guess.

i hope he can get there eventually, but i don't think 13-14 is possible--unless he really shines when given the odd shift or two.

But thats the beauty with Bulmer. Even if he doesn't develop into a regular top six forward, he can be a very valuable player as a bottom six agitator.

and i know that's what he was drafted for in the first place. top end third line pest with O upside. it isn't a knock on him at all not pasting him into the top six and it's true he won't be any more out of place there than what we're used to seeing the last handful of years. once he's experienced he'll be able to fill in ably (i'm guessing) like Brodz did.

edit: that's an O as in Oh. not zero.

Oh no, wasn't criticizing, more of a followup.

But yeah, he was really picked for his ability to agitate and playing physically, a sort of compliment to Cal Clutterbuck (I am waiting for the day to watch a Clutterbuck-Larsson-Bulmer line).

Seto's contract ends. Coyle will need to be in the top 6 to perform.

Great thread bud. But why the title we don't need this backfiring as all things do for minnesota sports
the title it self is a jab, see he had no thread on page 1,2,3,4 (all i checked) basically the great thing that happen when MN drafted him is he got forgotten.

Bird in the hand is worth two in the bush son, while Coyle is scoring in the AHL it does you no good to get rid of an NHL level player who you know can pot 20+g on a guess or hope.

you bring up Coyle and have him MAKE Seto expendable, until then you hold onto seto

Penciling in consensus top 5 draft picks into our future lineups will probably backfire. Recipe for a jynx.

And if we were to get Barkov he would definetly play center over Granlund.

Disagree. I think he is the type of player that can perform in any role. Although my doubts about him being a top line player is still there, I think he will play great on the 2nd/3rd line roles because not only does he bring offense, he brings grit and energy that works great on the 3rd lines as well.

And with the post-Lemaire roster, our 3rd line next season (or this...) will include Matt Cullen and probably Cal Clutterbuck. One's a ~35 pointer player and the other is ~15 goal scorer. The third line is no longer the line where youngsters die. Thanks to Fletcher, the 3rd line can now produce offense too. Coyle will fit great there.

A lot of people have commented on that. I know Renegade Stylings mentioned his personal rankings for the WHL are significantly different as well (though that doesn't necessarily mean anything about Lazar specifically). It's worth pointing out that Lazar is currently only 8-6-14 in 21 games for 0.67PPG. He's only 5th in scoring on a strong Oil Kings team. Compare that to Shinkaruk's 15-18-33 in 22 games and I'm not surprised people are becoming more critical of Lazar.

I'm not.

I think he should be higher, but I completely understand why CSS might have him lower than the rest (not sure about Muller, haven't see him yet).

Here is my take:

Seth Jones - Potential #1 defenseman
Hunter Shinkaruk - Potential top six offensive forward (high risk)
Ryan Pulock - Potential #2 two-way dman (safe as you can get)
Shea Theodore - Potential top four offensive defenseman
Morgan Klimchuk - Potential top six 30 goal scorer
Josh Morrissey - Potential top four puckmoving defenseman

Muller - No idea

Lazar - 2nd/3rd line two-way forward

So its his upside that might come in question, but again, I have him higher in my own rankings, but completely understand if some have their reasons to have him lower.

I guess I haven't been paying too much attention to him past the pre-season predictions.

Well I think you have fine reasons to be a little surprised. I have Lazar higher because I think he could an excellent 2nd line centerman.

But if you are talking about pure upside, guys like Klimchuk and Theodore should be above Lazar. But Lazar tries to compensate that with a great all-round game and tons of energy and character. Although it really isn't "upside", its tons of intangibles that any team would love to have.
