and that is why he will never play in the nhl again.
oilers dont move him unless its a gain. nothing lost keeping his rights.
They keep his rights for two more years, three if the owners get their way in the CBA. They don't have them forever. They also have to keep tendering him or something along those lines. I know Detroit has done it with Dick Axelsson for several years and Grigorenko before that. At some point he does go UFA. I understand wanting more than a sixth rounder. Maybe someone else will bite, I don't see Detroit doing it for a pick of high value like you are hoping. Especially with Renney on the bench, although Zetterberg (future captain) is as big of a guy as you could have in your camp. He and Lidstrom suggested Samuelsson after the last lockout, but I still think Holland would ask for the go ahead from Renney and Babcock which is unlikely unless Z is very good at selling this.

Do you really think Frk is in play for that? If you think that highly of Omark actually play the guy, no way does his value get there even ripping it up in Europe.
They have re-tread some players and got more milage out of them, but outside of what Cleary name guys that were like Omark that they have rescued.
Detroit is mostly self-built. Great players from within, there is very little poaching and rescue work done. It isn't like Dan Cleary is a star either. Samuelsson might be another rescue player also not a star. But you should see the point. I agree with him to a certain extent. But that is part of why I laugh when the other common point of Detroit's prospects are overrated because they are Detroit property. Well it is also a pipeline that has produced tons of talent, part of why they get that break.
After one year, at season 2013-14 Cleary is out, Tatar comes in. Mursak could also break to 3-4 lines.
We don't need Omark, we have your own better version of "Omark" in Nyquist. A shoot-first playmaker, like Mike Babcock wants. And just like Brunner is.
How many times have they done this? taken players that weren't in the organization and turned them into "gold"? because it hasn't happened all that much. Name some please because I'm having a hard time thinking of many. Bertuzzi? does he even count? the Wings are a team who's great at drafting, developing and have a great system in place that everyone buys into but I don't get why people think that because the Wings pick a guy up, he suddenly turns into a great player.
Again DRW needs better defence....Omark is not the answer for DRW needs. A great defensive forward would also be good, I am not a great fan of Abdelkader, who is while pretty gritty, a pretty mediocre hockey player with limited skill set.
Of course the only way of telling for sure if Omark would fit in DRW is letting him play for DRW. I just dont see the point of pursuing Omark at this point. Better to let Tatar, Nyquist, Frk, Pulkkinen, Mursak, Järnkrok etc etc get thier chances with the big team.
you see, as GM of the Oilers, my job would be for the oilers. If he cant provide help now...why would i give him the chance to help another team with nothing of usefulness back?
hes not going anywhere unless he works his value up. If Omark wants a trade he better get his value to more than one team offering a worthless 7th rounder. They shouldnt even have a draft beyond 5 rounds. pathetic.
If he doesnt get his value up? too bad for him. As GM of the Oilers i better be focussed on the team rather than some guy who only beaked off. If a GM ever thinks of a player who hasnt contributed anything... he should be tarred, feathered, sued for every cent earned, tatooed as a fraud and his family run out of town.
GM = employee of the team not some half wit player.
So you're saying if you ran a business you would let personal grudges dictate how you treat your employees? That isn't a very good way of running a business, IMO.
Yes, the NHL is a business. Yes, GMs should be focused on doing what they can to help their team. No, that does not mean you hold a player hostage like you are suggesting. It seems to me you are more concerned with Omark the person and wanting to pay him back for something than you are with Omark the asset.
And that would be a nifty lawsuit, trying to sue for money agreed to on a contract and paid. I think the violent assault you propose before the lawsuit might throw a wrench in your spokes, though.

If you notice in my post I said against the oilers 4 times. I dont care what he does to other teams but ex-oilers always seem to score against the team and I can just see him having like 6 points or something like that in the season series.
For a 7th rounder id rather just hold on to him rather then give him a chance to hurt my team

I don't think the Oilers will hold onto his rights for the duration. They've made it pretty clear he was going to be moved. I bet he's traded somewhere before hockey gets going again.

He is signed for a year overseas, so if hockey gets going again this year he isn't a very attractive asset to a team right away.
He is not a lockout signing, he will stay at Zug unless someone can come to an agreement with that club. Which will already be losing Brunner, Diaz and Zetterberg. Doubt they will be interested in letting him out of his contract.

counter!!!? really!!
nevermind Omark.. Davidson would make the Red Wings top 5 defence prospect list

Not so much....
Smith, Ouellet, Sproul, Jensen, and Marchenko
I will even throw Backman on top of that. They might not be all ready for the show right away, but all of them are better.
On top of the fact currently none of them are missing time for Cancer treatment. I wish him all the best there, but don't think other teams fans haven't heard about that. I was serious about how insulting I really thought that offer was and what the counter really would be even without this factoring in.

It was more directed at the consensus that Detroit turns **** into gold, which nobody seems to be able address with any proof. Just a misconception.
so you like watching a player get embarrassed in his own end only to do some spin move and ends up in the corner b/c he doesn't have the speed to get around on the small ice like he can on the big ice by using his nifty moves
