I personally like when people list stats but leave out certain years to presumably make their argument. Bringing up this past year's is understandable but why talk about his save percentages in 2009/2010 without bringing up 2010/2011 when (big surprise) he was one of the top in save percentages?
Good luck with Dubnyk then. He's probably the worst starter in the NHL and that's not hyperbole.
good lord I am sick of the dubnyk hate. Yes, he hasn't proven a whole lot, but to say he is the worst starter in the league is unfair.
Among goalies with a lower sv%: Fleury, Varlamov, Brodeur, Pavelec, Crawford, Neuvirth, Mason and of course every Kings fan's solution to our problems: Bernier.

Yeah the difference is that most of those goalies play 60+ games a year.

I don't think he's the worst but people are going to be skeptical with Dubnyk because his highest save percentage ever in both the AHL and NHL is .916. Most of the goalies you raise have had at least a couple of elite years to mix in with their bad years ie they've shown that they can play at an elite level. They also play more games for the most part.
Considering the D prospects they have:
Hemsky- playing making winger
Whitney- defense veterman to ease prospects into league
After that it depends on need. Some potential combinations of add ins
Gagner if they need a center
MPS if they want a good wing prospect
Picks (1st/2nd)
Pitlick for a winger with size
Phoenix is not adding over-priced players like Hemsky and Whitney. Doesn't take a rocket scientest to figure that out.
Yandle led the entire NHL in scoring 2 years ago. He is an elite PMD. Maybe someday Schultz can do that or one of the young four can perform a similar feat at forward. I guess what I'm saying is stop thinking that Gagner, MPS, Pitlick and the rest of your average, under-performing players are anywhere near what would make this happen.
Yandle would cost one of the big 4. If Oil fans are unwilling to give up one of their precious, then it's time to realize you are not getting a number one dman via a trade.
Paajarvi + Petry
Paajarvi would round out the LW side and Petry would replace Yandle on D.
I don't see how that deal makes Phoenix better. They give up one of the best defencemen in the league and get back Paajarvi who has struggled and Petry who is nowhere close to the same talent level. If I'm Phoenix I ask for one of the big 4 or Edmonton needs to add the first pick plus.
