Someone should email that link to Bob Murray.

To remind him how lucky we were to have a team like that?

Just when you thought Yahoo couldn't get any worse with its "journalism"

Quote:
• Anaheim finished 25th in the league last season and 17th in 2009-10, and would likely have done the same in 2010-11 if not for an absurd hot streak by Corey Perry (who's on a frontloaded deal). They're a team that has been 24th or lower in league attendance in each of the last three seasons despite being within $5 million of the cap in all of them. They're a team that's managed alarmingly poorly, almost running a 40-goal scorer out of town on many occasions and taking an "it'll take care of itself" attitude toward its defense. Their GM has managed what was just a few years ago a very good team pretty much into the ground and seems unlikely to re-sign both or indeed either of Ryan Getzlaf or Corey Perry, and again, might still trade Bobby Ryan for scrap. "So please," says Ducks owner Henry Samulei, "protect Bob Murray from himself."

I don't understand why it's relevant to mention that Perry's on a front loaded deal, even if it was true.

He states the teams that are causing the lockout suck, have no fans, and give out circumvention contracts like candy, then tries to imply that is what Perry's deal is.

Wait are they saying the Ducks almost ran Selanne and/or Perry out of town? Or are they saying Bobby is a 40 goal scorer now?

I'm not sure which is more inaccurate.

Although I do agree with the managed alarmingly poorly part.

But really it's just this puckdaddy blog. I can't say I've been impressed with any piece that's ever come out.

I always thought one is capable of speaking out of it's own behind, thanks for proving me right mr. Lambert.

"...alarmingly poorly..."

Someone needs an editor.

I also found it ironic that he titled the blog post 'We have seen the lockout enemy.' According to him, wouldn't those teams be the lockout allies?

There's nothing wrong what you quoted. It's good grammar.

It's bad writing. I didn't say he needed a copy editor.

Your sentences shouldn't be wobbling about like an obese drunk on a carousel.

It looks amateurish when you slam adverbs together like that.

Nah, his terrible journalism makes him look amateurish. Saying two adverbs shouldn't be put together for whatever reason is too pedantic, even for me.

It's awkward, and needlessly so. An article should be easy to read, and inserting "alarmingly poorly" into a sentence is like a speed bump on an interstate highway.

If you find that pedantic, then be glad that you aren't working as a writer. Back when I worked for a magazine, my editor would have sent the article back with a copy of King's 'On Writing...'.

So did I. I liked that it wasn't as dry as 'Elements Of Style' is.

Ryan Lambert is nothing more than full of himself. I confirmed that in a brief email exchange, with him, a while back. But you gotta' love watching people like that make that "emperor has no clothes" stroll every now and then.

Thanks, Ryan Lambert, for your vague, cursory, and inaccurate survey of the Anaheim franchise.

There's a small interview on tsn.ca with Selanne. Basically says if lockout goes full year he'll probably be done.
