That's part of their appeal to me; they pushed the envelope of what was and was not accepted. Doesn't hurt that Roger Waters and Doug Gilmour are supremely talented musicians.

I understand the hesitation of some to give them a chance, but I think they have created some of the best music of all time.

I endorse this post.

Saw Rush at the UC with my father a couple years back and they put on a fantastic show.

That's how I feel about the later Beatles stuff. I had a roommate in college who was a fanatic of them and DMB but also straight edge. I told him the Beatles stuff wasn't my speed because it was just too out there. He was playing that song that keeps saying No. 9, No. 9, No. 9 over and over. He said I was out of my mind, they didn't even do drugs. I was like...ummmm, he was a psychopath though, I moved out, but I swear to you, this information came as a shock to him and he wouldn't believe it.

Pink Floyd and the Beatles are too out there? It's frightening to hear that. How banal can your musical tastes be if the Beatles are too far out for you?

The telltale sign of somebody with no appreciation for the development of music and its history.

Look I think that the Beatles were spectacular when they were actually together. But they aren't relevant anymore. They did do alot for the music industry and were the icon of their generation but they are still over rated

If Pink Floyd is too out there for some I say have fun in your shell; I'll have fun in the wide open expanse that is my world of music.

Muse is pretty awesome for sure and lo and behold one of their influences is, not shockingly, Pink Floyd.

In the same way that Galileo's discoveries aren't scientifically relevant anymore. Which is to say, not at all.

There's a reason that the Beatles are still insanely popular.

I never understood people using labels like "overrated" for music. Music is very subjective. You like it, you're indifferent towards it, or you don't like it. Why someone else's opinion on it would affect your own is beyond me.

you like it or you don't like it. There is nothing like old, or overrated.

Hell, I like Johnny Cash but the next song I would listen to is from SoaD

I gotta give you props on that example. There's no denying the beatles were amazing and did wonders for music but people (who weren't even when the beatles were around) still try to cling to them.

And bands can be good and you can like them but that doesn't change the fact they may be over rated. Take linkin park for example. They are great and I own all their albums but they have gone down hill and people try too hard to connect with their music to the point of over analyzing. The band itself no longer Sings about politics (like on minutes to midnight) and they are just way too over played.

I remember growing up having all kinds of music that you had that was 'important' to listen to (The Clash, Springsteen, U2, Talking Heads, etc.). Huge swings in music landscapes like punk and grunge. Now....just a lot of the same old boring stuff to be quite honest though I really like Muse and M83. Bands like Tool are not hitting anymore which is unfortunate. They are getting up there in the 40's too and are losing the drive. We are in a 'disco-like' era right now.

There is no 'discovering' a band and having them work by putting out quality music every 12-18 months. Now a working band is every 3-5 years for music. Just a different musical landscape that is tough to get into.

Saw Springsteen for the 20th+ time last night and he was still very good. 3+ hours as well. Going again tonight. Bands now are mostly lazy...except for metal. Still love that metal!

Already bought up an extra pair each night to scalp. Do yourself a favor and get them now during the presale because the Riv sells out quickly.

All that was left in Minneapolis was balcony row V. Often they save some back for general sale but they will be gone instantly.
