Brodin reached out when Hall was already at the icing line.. even if he did make head contact (which I still don't see), what is he supposed to do?
Didn't leave his feet, elbow down, coasted into him.. ejected for no reason. Glad to see he can still play after 8 months off though. Tried some stupid toe drags tonight instead of just dumping it in, so hopefully he doesn't think he's back in the OHL.
Lol Hall singled Brodin out and took several hard strides to get to him. Don't tell me that was incidental contact or anything. Hall was after his head. I didn't think that hit could possibly be justified but there it is.
Nugent gets highsticked and then the next game Granlund and Brodin magically got hammered to hospital. yeah.
Granlund definitely didn't get hammered, really not sure what happened. For all we know Teubert could have done something malicious when he was tied up with him, but he definitely just rubbed him out.
Brodin? Yeah he got flattened kid. Looks like his head hit the glass after his helmet came off. Looked really bad, watching that replay made me sick.
In what world was the Teubert hit on Granlund dirty? His skate dug into the ice while he was coming down and he fell awkwardly. I hated to see it but it wasn't dirty.
The Hall hit was a hockey play. Brodin can't skate to the puck with his head down like that in North America.
The hit on Granlund was fine and the Hall hit was not a good hockey play.

Watch the replay again, the puck is loose along the boards and Brodin is taking his sweet time to get to it. Hall takes three hard strides and glides into Brodin for a good second. Brodin reaches to poke the puck instead of bracing for the hit.

Hall was after contact, and the only reason he got it is because Brodin panicked and reached out at the last second.
From the ****** stream video it looks like Hall caught more arm than anything and would have eaten the boards if Brodin just braced for the hit. He glided into Brodin and it sent him into the boards, which he was unfortunately already facing of his own accord.
Whole thing seemed to stem from a miscommunication between Brodin and whoever his partner was.

Uhh a guy skating for a hit is dirty now? He shoulda glided to Brodin could wheel around and make a play

yeah im sure taylor "goonsquad" hall singled him out to go headhunting.
brodin got leveled due to bad judgment and/or tunnel vision. deal with it.
Some plays are on the player getting hit to defend himself. I do not believe Brodin did. I also don't think Hall intentionally targeted his head. Hall always plays the game at top speed and tonight it resulted in a injury.
Granlund's injury was bad luck. I thought Hall's hit on Brodin was clean, but just turned out badly because Brodin went to poke the puck RIGHT when Hall got to him. It seemed like Brodin was really taking his time and wasnt paying attention, just no clue he could get hit. That said, it did remind me somewhat of the Torres on Eberle hit a while back (the exception being that Raffi "hit to the head" Torres was certainly going for the head).
Unbelievable is the word I would use as well after seeing him with the Flames last year.
Maybe he figured everything out this summer?
?
I'd say Horak exceeded expectations last year by simply being a depth centre for the Flames while being defensively sound. He didn't put up many points, but he played a role.

He looks noticeably bigger and stronger on the puck this year, that is for sure.
He is not overly skilled but boy is this kid a smart, smart hockey player. Last year he earned the trust of Sutter in a strictly defensive capacity and was not awarded many offensive opportunities.

And that's supposed to allow me to make the jump to a goal per game average in the AHL during a lockout?

That almost sounded like Shanahan explaining why "insert player name here" wasn't suspended last year.
Relax. That was sarcasm. I'm not ticked about who hit who right now. Just ticked at the potential outcome of the hits. Hopefully Granlund and Brodin are okay.

but he is clearly moving a step beyond that now. If he exceeded expectations last year, then this is noting short of miraculous.
Horak is developing. the lockout might have been good for him, if he can find that next level, and apply it to his NHL game.
Horak definitely exceeded expectations last season and is doing so far again this season.
This kid's acquisition is 100% on the shoulders of Craig Conroy, he saw him while going to Chiliwack to scout Howse and was so impressed that he told Feaster the Flames needed to trade for him. Conroy was impressed with his work ethic and how coachable he looked. The latter IMO is why we are seeing Horak playing so well since being acquired.
