The players gave a great effort: they skated fast, battled hard. With Bournival, Gallagher and Dumont in the line-up, we won't be afraid that we lack intensity.

However, I'm a bit concerned about the lack of talent. I really haven't seen a high hockey awareness, a smart play or an amazing shot, or a great dribble. What I've seen, it's 20 Kostopoulos (sure I exaggerate a bit here )

The Habs really need more skill at every level still. I know everyone wants heart and hustle and intangibles, but we also need guys who can actually play with the puck.

Is it just me, or does anybody else find it odd that Beaulieu has 0 points through 7 games?

He has been doing everthing to get pts, his shot needs some refine and the team lack firepower up front.. Personally Im not stressed about his production, it will come.. But thats pretty clear he will need to bulk up next summer to get stronger..

Not really. Subban for example had 3 assists, +1, 17 shots in his first 10 games on a much more offensively adept Dogs team. Obviously he later picked it up big time ending the year with 18 goals and 53 points. Beaulieu already has 16 shots and is +3 in his first 7 games. He's also quite noticeable with the puck and has had quite a few chances from the couple games I've watched already. He's likely just going through a transition period, I mean he's still 19.

Dmens are pretty much screwed offensively without a good supporting cast. Other than holland and bournival, it looks like everyone wants his little goal and shoots the puck at the first occasion. So the play rarely stays in the Ozone for Beaulieu to take shots from the point. Add the pure lack of creativity on the PP, and the fact that st-denis likes as much if not more to go up the ice, it makes Beaulieu erased from the play more often than not.

I think Gallagher and Holland are supposed to be the talent, a 5th rounder and 7th rounder. Leblanc also actually, but he's not playing.

It doesn't help that our three best forward prospects, Galchenyuk, Collberg, and Kristo, are not on the team. We might see Collberg and Kristo on the team next year.

As far as talent concerns, it's still early in the season, and sometimes it takes about 10 games in or so for teams to work the kinks out, especially a very young and revamped lineup to sort out roles and linemates. I have hope there will be some surprises by about game 12 to 15. Hopefully by then, a couple of the kids will get hot and others will establish themselves as niche players.

Patience.
