Esks will get stomped by the Argos next week. They are playing very well and even without Ray they can defeat the Esks.

To have a chance they need Charles back, play Nichols the whole game and not have #33 on the field.

yeah that roughing the passer penalty was *terrible*, but i'm actually happy we lost as we get to play in the east, which gives us a better chance

this game actually played out about perfect... JC with the record, nichols shows that he should be the starter (confirming what every sane person in the world already knew) and stamps with a big game.... the only crappy thing was cornish "breaking" kwongs record... i put breaking in quotations, because kwong did it in 15 games, not 18 like cornish did

Yeah, the Eskimos got f'd in the rear by the refs and the league tonight. Whatever. Toronto here we come... it's too bad that Joseph is starting though.

That sucks. If they announced it at the game then I must have missed it. I was hoping beyond hope that he didn't.

A record of 7 wins and 11 losses and they still get into the playoffs.

Only in the CFL.

Pretty much, I think the Seahawks got in with a 7-9 record

Wow...really? Are you sure about that?

EDIT: Seattle was 7-9 a couple of years ago. That is pretty bad but not 7-11 bad.

To be fair, the Seahawks made the playoffs (and beat the defending Saints) with a 7-9 record not so long ago.

I'd also say I agree with this... that RTP was one of the worst calls of the season.

I believe the exact opposite of everything you said here.

I think we will beat Toronto and I also believe that if we do, the quarter of football Nichols got to play against Montreal last week (bringing the team back but falling just short) will be a blessing in disguise.

I think, in 3 weeks, we will be in another indoor Grey Cup - like in 2005.

Yeah a 44% winning percentage is pretty bad...a 38% WP is...well...

Three positives - Sherritt broke Tiggles' record, Boyd put up some yardage and Nichols showed that last week wasn't a fluke despite the loss.

All in all that was a typical CFL game punctuated by atrocious officiating.

The one that really burned me up was the penalty for tackling their QB as he was grabbing his fumbled ball. Makes little sense to me. In the NFL they'd just leave it to the trainers to scrape him off the turf and move on.

That was the right call. You can't tackle a player who doesn't have the ball. in Howard's defence, d-linemen are conditioned to hit the QB or stop him so that's why he did it as it was instinctive and the play was unusual as the QB was fumbling around trying to get the ball. If there were tons of players around sometimes it gets overlooked.

Boyd did look good...I thought Messam looked better as well.

Nice to see Stamps fighting for the ball and putting up great numbers.

Nichols with another strong game too...we also didn't have to sit through any part of the game watching Joseph or Jyles either.

So there are some positives.

That was actually one of the good calls. Gotta go for the ball on that play and not the player.

See I don't think it'll be that easy. Now let me say that I haven't watched a whole lot of Toronto games, but I think we're giving far too much respect to Ray. This guy isn't Lulay or AC. We know what he's capable of but we also know his downfalls. With Howard back, our front four also seemed considerably better tonight. Especially in the pass rush area. I like this D better than the Roughriders' D. It should, on paper, give Ray much more trouble.

Not only that, but I think we have a pretty good shot if Nichols plays the whole game and Kavis doesn't do many stupid decisions. Their D doesn't seem to have that many players who can bring alot of pressure. Considering the state of our O-line, that's a good thing. Nichols so far has shown him and Stamps can link up pretty good(which, shockingly Joseph nor Jyles could not do....smh).

It's not a 'in the bag' type game for us, but I really don't think Ray's going to bulldoze over this team like many are predicting. I think we have a good chance to win if Nichols plays. Also if coaching doesn't get stupid or too cute.

You think that's bad, in 1981, Ottawa qualified for the Eastern playoffs at 5-11 and Montreal also did at 3-13!

All five Western teams had a better record. Ottawa caught fire in the playoffs and jumped out to a 20-1 lead against Edmonton in the Grey Cup before the Esks won their 4th in a row on a last second FG. Yes, only in the CFL.
