Same reason why Kane has been in trade proposals. People must be bored or something.

Ovechkin is a more valuable player than hossa. I'm pretty sure most people would trade hossa for ovechkin straight up. On another note, is hossa really a top 3 defensive winger in the game?

Yes. He is the best defensive winger in hockey period.

I have a pretty big man crush on Hossa. If we could've kept him over Franzen I would do that immediately.

I get that Hossa has had injuries before but, did he not just have an 81 game season this season? Even when he is having an injury proned season his numbers are still top 3 numbers. I am sure Hossa could garnish very high value despite his age/injury/contract.

81 games... and then was taken off the ice on a stretcher and hospitalized in the playoffs. Hossa is just now beginning to skate again after the concussion he suffered from Torres' cheap shot. That's a pretty significant injury concern and is a lot more relevant than how many games he played before that concussion.

I certainly won't argue that his injury is severe but I guess I am just a firm believer that people can make significant strides and come back from such injuries. On that note I hope Torres gets what is coming to him.

He's been skating since July.

he feels like a first line guy that has decent history showing up for big games... plays an overall strong game... is signed for a long time at a decent cap hit...

if he goes on the market id say he is one of the most 50 valuable players in the NHL as far as trade value goes. the equivlent value of 3 first rounders or a bit more then that.

If I was Boston and had the cap space... id move Horton to free up a roster spot and give up 3 firsts for Hossa.

He is a difference maker

I am a softie for injured all stars. I got a nasty head concussion a couple years back because some ******* decided to raise his elbow to take me out. Been off the ice for too long. Hoping Hossa comes back and plots a hat trick. One goal for every time Torres is on the ice.

Yeah, after taking a hit (read: cheapshot) like that...I'd want to see him play half a season before I could offer anything, whether he's got symptoms or not.

I think in terms of value it's not bad but it doesn't make alot of sense for Chicago. Vancouver wins big time by solidying their top six and makes it maybe the best top six in the league. Chicago would need more than Jensen to let this trade go. IMO a roster player is needed to fill in for hossa at least.

As an Oiler fan I always hate the guy . If the NHL real want to protect star players they should kick his a$$ out for good.

A healthy hossa is a ppg 40 g 40 assist player , while also playing some of the best first line wing defense in the league.

Really he is about as unique a wing player in the league. If contract and age are not in consideration, i could see parise for him straight up who may be the only comparable player.

However his contract and age hurt his value and make him more valuable to keep.
