I would want Doughty more than Quick to be honest.
I wouldnt trade Doughty straight up for him. I know Malkin is worth Doughty and maybe more but that just my opinion and im sure most Kings fans will agree with me .
Doughty is going to become something special he is finally untaping his potential and when Ken Holland praises a young kid in a interview then u know he is going to be special or you cannjust simply love our team and watch more games .
Trading for Malkin is a 2 step backwards, 3 step forwards process. The trade would dry your team of all depth and top players. From Ottawa's POV, it's a trade that really makes no sense as we have Spezza, and they have no need for Karlsson.
So 1st line RW capable of 30 goals, 2nd line center capable of 60 points, top 4 Dman capable of 20 minutes a night and Top Prospect ready to break into NHL.
Going by this from my own fav team, Kesler, Burrows, Edler and Kassian.
How did you go from this:

When the players you mentioned; actually translate into this:
A RW capable of reaching 30 goals one single time; despite playing with both Sedin's; 2nd line center capable of 60 points, or 40 points dependent on if he shows up; a #3-4 Dman and a mid-level Prospect only ready to break into NHL if on a team lacking prospect depth.

It's easy to say when you know there is zero chances that Pens would agree for this...

After considering cap, Pits would have to send some salary and lesser replacement players back.

Burrows has averaged 30 goals over the past four seasons, not to mention he'd be playing with Crosby who is much more skilled than the Sedins.
Kesler is EASILY a 60 point player (he's averaged 65 points the past four seasons), where are you getting 40 points from? Even last year when he didn't play a full season and was coming off an injury he got 50 points.
And in what world is Edler a #4 d-man?
Finally, Kassian is not a mid-level prospect. He's not a top 25 prospect in the league but he's definitely a top prospect.
Anyway i'm not going to let you de-rail this thread with your shameless (and obviously uninformed) Canuck hate.
I think that Kesler, Edler, Burrows + Kassian would be a decent proposal for Malkin, as the Penguins would be receiving a great #2 center to play behind Crosby, who can replace the Selke level defense of Jordan Staal, a top pairing defencemen who will fit nicely on the PP with Letang on the back end, a player capable of playing on the 1st line and putting up 30 goals (think of a clutch version of Chris Kunitz), and a top prospect in Kassian who's ready to step into the NHL very shortly.
That being said, this is ONLY if he demands a trade. Otherwise Pittsburgh keeps him and signs him to whatever contract he asks for.
Even then, i'm thinking there could be more appealing trades out there, such as the Stamkos + Hedman offer (if Tampa fans are actually on board with it). Crosby and Stamkos together would be terrifying.

I think there is no way a trade would work; if any other team would trade for him, they would absolutely gut their team, I don't think the Pens want picks right now. So the team really wouldn't improve that much. The Stamkos + Hedman offer isn't that far off, but I don't think that Tampa would be a considerable better team after that.
And then there's the other side: If Pittsburgh trades Malkin and the pieces coming back don't work out (or just one of the pieces, like one pick or a prospect), well, there goes your job as a GM.
Oh, and I think if you refuse to trade Doughty for Malkin straight up, there goes your job as a GM as well. It's not a matter of what Doughty will be one day, it's about what Malkin is.
Edit: the Canucks proposal above is also not far off value wise, but it shows the problem with trading for Malkin: suddenly the Canucks would have many gaps to fill, and unless Malkin can play 40 mins a night and like Fedorov switch to D if needed, that wouldn't work out.
it would cost more than any team would be willing to pay but ill play the game

Malkin

I do not think that is such a bad offer. IMO Price is far better than MAF+ Patches, Subban +1st. I would change the first to Gally and it would be pretty much fair IMO.
Evgeni Malkin is a 26 year old 6'3" 205lb center that is arguably the best player on the planet right now, he'll get pretty much whatever he asks for from Pittsburgh. Name another player, currently playing, with this resume at age 26...just turned 26.
