Now the lockout is reality, I'm pretty curious, which NHL'ers we are to see in Denmark for the next few months. According to this fb page, both Regin and Frans Nielsen are rumoured to play for Herning during the lockout.

It seems also there is some talk about the Rødovre guys might be moving home (Jannik Hansen, Mikkel Bødker and Lars Eller).

Newest development (17'th september) seem to indicate that neither Mikkel Bødker or Lars Eller will play in Denmark, but Jannik Hansen is still a possibility!

Peter Regin will play for Herning if there is an ongoing lockout in NHL. With his many shoulder injuries it might be a very good starting point for him to get back to gameplays in a less physical league.

Read this a couple of days ago... This just sounds crazy. In the article Aalborg Pirates' CEO(De facto GM), Frederik Akesson, states that an agent has sent him a mail in which his club is offered 8 NHL'ers that want's to play in Denmark for free.

http://politiken.dk/sport/ishockey/E...tis-i-aalborg/

Akesson claims that the players will pay their own insurance and wage.

I see three possible things, that has gone wrong.

A) The journalist doesn't know what he's talking about and forgets to underline, that it's highly unlikely that players like Travis Zajac and Brandon Dubinsky will be playing in the Danish League.

or/and

B) Frederik Aakesson felt he needed to show off and called a reporter to show him a mail in his mailbox. Without telling him that every other club in Europe has gotten the exact same mail.

or

C) I'm a pesimistic idiot because Travis Zajac and Brandon Dubinsky do in fact think the Danish league is a good place for them to spend some lockout months/a lockout year. I just don't see

I'm thinking Jannik Hansen, Peter Regin and Frans Nielsen is realistic but beyond that I highly doubt any regular NHL-player would go to Denmark.

Not even Rodovre thinks Mikkel Boedker are going to Denmark:

http://www.mightybulls.dk/jannik-han...kker-ikke-rmb/

And Lars Eller is staying with his wife. She's due to give birth in about month so baby Eller will keep him in Montreal.

Frans Nielsen, Philip Larsen and Mikkel Bødker has signed with Rauman Lukko in Finland (SM-liiga). They will join Simon Nielsen (brother of Frans) that is a goalkeeper there.
It leaves Peter Regin and Jannik Hansen as possibilities for seeing NHL'ers in the Danish League.
Lars Eller will almost certainly stay in Montreal as mentioned in the post above.

Former NHL'er Josh Gratton has signed a 3-game try-out contract with Rødovre - where his brother Brad is the head coach. This reportedly is due to him not getting a contract in Russia due to the quota of foreign players being occupied by lockouted NHL players.

I don''t think there's even a single hockey player from Aarhus. Hockey is nothing in that city.

That's not quite true:

Best player out of Aarhus would have to be Søren True:

http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=3421

Started out with Skovbakken (a suburb of Aarhus), got drafted by the Rangers and played 3 seasons in the IHL 1989-92.

Peter Regin is not going to play for Herning, since he would have to pay tax for the money he has earned in Canada.
He will play in Switzerland's second division NLB for SC Langenthal where Heinz Ehlers is coach.

Jannik Hansen is the last realistic hope for seeing a danish NHL'er for a danish club. He has landed in Denmark and is training with Rødovre Mighty Bulls, but will first decide to play if the lockout drags out further into december.

The danish NHL migration to Finland continues. Lars Eller has signed for JYP Jyväskylä that leads the SM-liiga.
http://www.sporten.dk/ishockey/lars-...-finsk-topklub

His wife has given birth but still surprising that he already will start playing in Europe from the 12'th of november. But everyone seems to realize this lockout will not end soon.

Jannik Hansen has also chosen to play in Finland, so it seems the lockout wil be without danish NHL'ers on danish soil. Jannik Hansen will play for Tappara i Tampere already the 2'nd of november.
http://www.sporten.dk/ishockey/janni...lads-i-finland

Peter Regin will go back to Ottawa after a short period in Langenthal, so it will be interesting where he end up playing.

All Danish Nhl-players are coming to the Sm-Liiga. Are your series so bad that they just ignore them all?

Many of these guys have probably spent most of the off-season in Denmark and I guess it's more affordable for them to play abroad during the lock-out for tax reasons.

Well the answer is both yes and now. Since 2007 the financial crises has lowered the Al-Bank liga in quality, and it was a factor for some of the danish NHL'ers to play in a better liga especially if the lockout started to drag out. But they didn't ignore the danish league.
Peter Regin was keen on playing for Herning Blue Fox, but tax issues prevented that. Jannik Hansen was also close to play for Rødovre Mighty Bulls, but ended up chosing Finland.

Kevin Klein from Nashville Predators will play for Herlev Eagles. He played with Kim Staal for Milvaukee Admirals in the AHL 2006-2007 and they have been in touch ever since; so that's the main reason for this lockout transfer. The agreement says until 8'th of December.
He have had 4 good years as defender for Nashville, so a big scoop for Herlev and the danish league.

Kevin Klein stats from eliteprospects:

So you convinced them to stand for a fan picture??
- or you have connections to some that did?!

Always thought it a shame that Kim Staal was close but never made it to NHL. I think he went over to North America to late. Actually with the form he had especially at the WC 2003 he would have had a greater chance if he had gone over earlier, than playing in AHL 2006-07. I seem to remember some badly timed injuries that destroyed that opportunity.

Zach Smith from Ottawa Senators will join Frederikshavn Whitehawks.
So the third NHL player in Denmark. Who would ever have thought that possible?
So he is hired to stop fellow Senator player Colin Greening and Aalborg Pirates. is sure to draw in some crowds in Northen Jutland.

Zack Smith:

Kevin Klein has ended his contract with Herlev. After 8 matches he got 1G 1A.
He is currently injured, but the contract could be renegotiated after new year if the lockout continues.
