The steal and set-up last night for the winner is an NHL IQ move. He has more attributes that are NHL ready than the rest of those players you mentioned.
I think he's probably factoring in that Turris and Spezza are essentially locks for the 1C and 2C spot, and that we don't have the scoring depth yet to form 3 scoring lines (meaning the 3rd/4th lines are checking lines, which isn't Da Costa's strong point).

didn't really consider prince a 'dark' horse, but ok. and i guess pageau too although he'd be very dark i think. so dark that we might not see much of him.

With the impacts of Hoffman, Regin, Greening we could certainly have 3 scoring lines. Stack up the 4th line with Smith, O'Brien and Neil or such.

Da Costa is an excellent defensive forward as well, look no further than last night's play.

Either way, if he does become a solid piece that won't be able to crack the 2nd line center spot because of Turris doing very well, we can use him as a huge centerpiece in a trade that'll benefit us somewhere else. Doesn't mean we push him back just cause our roster now doesn't look beneficial for him.

Look at Philly and Briere. They thought he was 3rd liner on their team and was about to trade him a couple times now he's their go-to second line center.

Anyway, I really look forward to getting my heritage jersey customised when the day comes.

We don't really need a 3rd line checking line if the Turris line continues to be our shutdown line.

Prince, Pageau, Weircioch, Grant. I think they will all see time with the Sens, Prince having the longest career.

Maidens will be an NHLer if he can get over his concussion issues

I seriously think Hugh Jessiman could add something to a bottom 6. If not for the sens, maybe somewhere else. 6'6, physical, and actually has better hands and offensive awareness than I thought he would come with. Probably not much potential past what he already is though if he is even considered a prospect at all haha.

He's probably been the most effective forward this season so far.

David dziurzynski. His play this season is a good indication that he has a good shot at being a real good bottom six forward, potentially even an elite bottom six forward.
