Hmm, according to @JSportsnet, Fehr and Daly still meeting. If true, guess it's a good thing.

Meeting between Bill Daly and Steve Fehr is now over. Fairly lengthy one. Two sides will meet again at a TBD date.

He says its over
"Over" as in "good over" and they're going to meet again?

Or "over" as in "bad over" and the season's toast?

Must be the longest meeting ever. Is there really that much to talk about?

Longest and latest meeting yet. No way it can't bring good news.

In 2004-05 they had marathon sessions to get it done. Is this the beginning of that? Doubt it, but still. Here's Wiki's article on it.

Quote:
Bolstered by the thought of losing yet another season to a labor dispute, the sides began meeting again in June, with many pundits believing the lockout would end on July 4, 2005. That date eventually came and went, but sources were reporting to media that marathon sessions were taking place. Indeed, the sides met again for ten consecutive days (July 4–13), and a deal was reached "in principle" (meaning the sides have agreed, but nothing is signed) on July 13. According to reports, the July 12 session lasted through the night and until 06:00 on July 13, at which point the talks broke off for five hours, and resumed in time to complete the deal.

I think Pagnotta was just basing it off Shannon's original tweet.

Dater tweeted as if the meetings were already over, so that usually means there is a good chance they are still going on.

Edit: @drosennhl

Bill Daly and Steve Fehr are still meeting as I type this tweet.

So the conclusion to be had is this-

Steve Fehr and Bill Daily are the real negotiators behind this. Bettman and Fehr are there for PR spins, laying blame and not losing the war in public. Correct?

That feel when Dater was saying nothing really happened.

That feel when he has no clue what is going on or if the meetings are still on or not.

Bettman and the Donald should be well informed about what is happening in the room and what their side is allowed to offer up.

Daly and the Steve most likely has a lot of influence over their sides strategy. They are probably closer to being co-negotiatiors than subordinates, no matter what the titles say.
