Rupp needs to keep his mouth shut. He's annoying. He's been on SiriusXM throughout the lockout, spewing his woe is the player nonsense.
He REALLY believes he's going through some sort of hardship.
He's an AWFUL NHL player. He knows it. He knows his job is at risk. Guy scores a couple of goals per year, maybe. He plays 5 minutes per night, maybe.
Stu Bickel could do what he does, at a fraction of the cost. The cap is going down, Rupp isn't long for the NHL.
On the flip side, listen to or read Marty Biron's thoughts and insights. Its like night and day. Biron is a player and obviously has something to lose or gain, but he's always refreshing to hear. He comes off almost unbiased.
Some of these guys (Rupp) need a dirty sock stuffed in their mouth and taped. They don't help the process.
Rup isn't exactly a superstar but to say that stu bickel can do what rupp does is a little bit ridiculous to be honest.
Can't wait for the inflammatory comments to come out tomorrow about how there was no progress and and they took turns presenting ******** window dressing proposals, despite the fact that they're in a secret locale and have been meeting for something like 9 hours or something like that.
If a deal is struck, can they uncancel the Winter Classic?
Anything is possible, however, with the reports this week that the wings/leafs asked for the WC to be cancelled I don't see it going back up if a deal is struck. Not enough time to market it to make it real successful.
I am remaining cautiously optimistic that there will be a season, I for one did not know what to really believe if the WC was cancelled, but with it being cancelled this early, there is still hope for a season of some kind. I do believe this lockout has caused its damage and I will be shocked if/when hockey comes back it will be as successful in revenues as it was last season.
This is a meeting I have been waiting for, a meeting between the NHL and the NHLPA to go into the wee hours of the morning. This meeting being in a secret location and not much coming out about it beside they are meeting. To meet for that long of a time about concepts and scheduling more meetings does not make sense. I may be wrong, but they have to be talking about a new CBA, they must be negotiating. I am cautiously hopeful a deal is struck soon. Too bad this couldn't have happened a couple weeks ago. I am also hopeful that bettman will deliver the news of a cba being reached and him announcing his resignation as commissioner (let me dream haha).
