I'm not so sure about this, I think the players are starting to get upset and wanna play. If there not as dumb as they come off on twitter (Which there is no way they are) I think there putting pressure on Fehr to get something done.
I'm sure the players wanna play however Fehr is a master at keeping them inline and telling them sweet nothings....however I'm sure after the little leak about how the league verbally offered to make a change to the "makewhole" and the players didn'tknow about it before the league cancelled the WC. The players must be wondering what the hell he is doing besides stalling, it's not against the law for him to go after the league for demands for the players and try to get the best deal....the only way Fehr knows how to deal is by playing chicken, and I suspect this will be no different.....don't expect a deal within the month.
You realize RFA, UFA, ELC are all about distribution of money being paid out, not the total amount. ATM imo there is too many 22 yr olds that are gettin too high of contracts.
I agree with this. Too much money too early, and as free agents they fly the coop. Makes it hard for teams to reap the rewards of a good hockey program.
I think this is why teams like the Senators will pass on a primo hockey talent if they seem to have character issues. A player might milk the team for dollars and be a locker room problem, then leave while hitting their prime.

It was good to see Bill Daly and Steve Fehr negotiate for long hours on core-economics. It's the first time in that process.
Glad to see not too much was leaked out of this meeting.

YES I do understand it's about the distribution of $$. I have long believed that the PA was willing to conceed on $$ or % of HRR but the players rights issues, such as ELC, Arb., RFA UFA were much more critical to their willingness to sign an agreement.
The original proposals of the NHL owners while egregous on their face were designed to focus the PA on % of HRR or total $$ while the real issues they wanted was to able to control player movement and value over the life of a players career. I'm wondering why so many here are having difficulty grasping that concept.
Oh well lets hope that the meetings yesterday did focus on the issues of player rights and movement and that there was some constructive movement. If not, well the season is probably lost.

San Jose is quite a bit north from LA/Anaheim, and the Southern California ice is usually regarded as atrocious. The players at 2011's All Star game ranked the worst ice as Florida, NYR, Tampa, Anaheim, and LA.

Or it shows that you can have bad ice in spite of the weather outside. It certainly doesn't show that it's easy to have good ice in hot weather.

Not exactly. You are right in that the Rangers ice is poor because MSG is both a dated facility and one that is CONSTANTLY (i.e. daily) installing/removing surfaces for events. All of the other teams there (SoCal teams + FL teams) are in warmer climates where there is not much they can reasonably do to account for the 80+F temps outside and the desired close-to-freezing temperatures inside.
