He's more of a mix between Palmer and Sanchez to me...Leinart had probably one of the weakest arms i've ever seen in person. Barkley has all the tools (Palmer) but his decision making and poise are iffy (Sanchez).
He has Palmer's arm, but he has the touch, pocket presence, and decision making of Sanchez. He's not going to be very good.
Vikings need a WR who can get open down the field. Hunter/Woods/Wilson/Allen in 2013!
Vikings need a few things outside of wide receiver (and I wouldn't be surprised if they forgo a wide receiver). Linebacker (none of our guys in the middle are 3 down players or leaders). Safety (Smith is awesome but...??)...
Yes but he's still a huge question mark. Vikings already gambled (and IMO lost) with the Ponder pick. They can't gamble another 1st round pick that will probably be in the 10-20 range away.
It's unlikely that Te'o will still be there when they pick. I'd be fine with a DT/NT, CB, or WR.
Horrible off-season to need a QB.
Draft isn't strong and looks to be a weak FA market. Reaching on Ponder is going to hurt us for quite some time. Two seasons lost already, might not be until 2014 that we shore up the position. What a waste of Peterson's prime.
Vikes should bring in competition for Ponder. Smith is the best guy to likely be available... but that also means he could end up grossly overpaid as there are a few teams looking for help (Cards, Bills, Browns, Jets, Jags, Chiefs, Eagles and Rams could all potentially be in the market).
Ideally (and what the Vikes should have done in the 1st place), Vikes look at the draft as a talent grab... regardless of position. If a QB falls to them, great. If not, maybe look for one in the 3rd or later and hope to get lucky (ala Seattle). If we come out of the draft without a QB, then roll the dice on FA.
What they need to stop doing is going for quick-wins, sack-up and rebuild.
Right now the Eagles would be drafting 4th, thankfully some of the teams around them won today. They are projected to most likely between 4th-6th. Looks like the top pick is between KC, JAX, and Oakland. With the Raiders having the weakest SOS of them all.
