Daly and Fehr wrapped up their talks at 1am. Daly released a short statement to Pierre LeBrun. They had a series of meetings and agreed to meet again. It was held at a neutral site. They probably would report back to Gary and Don at the breaks or those guys were sitting in the next room.

Bill Daly says his Saturday meeting with Steve Fehr went "on and off for most of the day and covered a lot of ground."

Probably best to keep the two massive egos out of the room... Progress may actually occur.

In the spirit of time travel today, I feel like I am time travelling every time I read this thread, because every god damn statement these idiots make is the same.

So lame.

No NHL CBA talks schedule today. They'll be a conference call today for the NHLPA negotiation committee.

On the last conference call, the players told the Fehr's to open up the dialogue with the NHL. Biron and Halpern were the Rangers on the call.

Mark Nov. 3 as the day good faith returned to NHL talks. A not-rushed, 64-game season starting around Dec. 1 sounds about perfect.

According to reports, the Commissioner and the head of the PA aren't even in the room. Its always good when anyone representing the sides are talking, but Ill hold my optimism for now.

True, and I'm holding my optimism as well, but those two idiots aren't in the room because their gigantic egos get in the way of negotiating. They wanted it that way to try and see if something can get resolved I'm sure.

Miracle alert: I'm told by usually skeptical people that some real progress was actually made late last night in NHL lockout talks

Still got to get down to "nitty gritty" though

Im not so sure. Theyre going to have to be in the room and the central characters for any true progress to be made. And Im not sure Bettman and Fehr are even capable of realizing they have been detriments to this entire progress.

The fact they havent gotten a mediator involved is absolutely ridiculous.

We're really at the point now where 2 lieutenants meeting in a room for a few hours is real progress?

Well its definitely encouraging, lets hope they keep moving forward with this momentum.

Not going to get overly excited over this like the last few times.

Eklund says progress was made?

Damnit, that means negotiations have been set back weeks!

It's always nice to read that the two sides are talking. I truly hope the exchange leads to something.

my thinking:

Now that the WC has been cancelled... we are into the November dead zone which will be the last attempt to hold onto the December games. If the discussions go on for another week and little net headway takes place, the two sides will need to back away from each other and the next round of talks will be the early December season starting (Jan) /season ending discussions.

I'm opting for further progress but in the end a breakdown of talks. The final push needs a bit of desperation from the parties and I'm betting against rationality for the moment.
I'm just not particularly optimistic for a breakthrough from this little flurry. Perhaps I truly don't understand the mentality of the two sides?

Here's to hoping we are days away from a breakthrough.

Next NHL CBA talks will be in NY this week. Probably not before Tuesday. Positive ? We'll see, but better than the last 2 weeks ? Yes

Bettman was not in the next room, he was eating dinner at the restaurant I work at (in NJ). Coincidentally I noticed progress was indeed made when Bettman was not involved, go figure haha.
