Dont look for a presser TUE after CBA meetings. NHL wants to go the silent route w/a statement, at best, like it did this wkend .the league feels the less said publicly, the better off. also, talks expected to go thru the week.
Wanted to post this here so I can show somebody what I worked on
The KHL posted a interview with Ovechkin 2 days ago in which, among other things, Ovechkin was asked about the latest proposal from the owners to which he replied,
"The 50/50 proposal is still the same thing. They still want a 24% reduction in player salary. I pay 46% in taxes, 15% in escrow and now they want to take a further 24%. That is 85% they are taking from the players. What does that leave? To play for Mcdonald's sandwiches? I can't see many players wanting to come back from Europe for that."
A lot of people on the business board jumped on him for the figures especially his tax numbers. I did a spreadsheet on what he pays in taxes factoring all of the jock taxes in some states and all the different tax systems. I'll post it here.
I'm not referring to television numbers, purely people in the arena.
Well, I was talking about television ratings. People actually sitting in the arena don't have much bearing on TV networks. They care more about people watching on TV.

You actually said 'long term viewership or attendance'.
the previous posts were for a phone meeting with the players
Bah. I still don't hold much hope with these two groups negotiating. Even if they do agree on something to play this year, we'll just have another lockout in 7 years anyway, because I'm sure the terms won't be ideal further down the line.
After months of arguing over whether they want Sweet N Low or Splenda in the sweet tea served at meetings, they've agreed to just have ****ing Coke instead.
