He is getting scary good and he is doing it by himself. He should be in a better league.

Charles Sarault knew about Galchenyuk before he became mainstream.

Maybe Sarnia could loan him to Frolunda ? I hear there is a spot open on the fourth line.

Any idea why Charles Sarault has a profile on the Habs website?

Maybe Sarnia isn't really as bad as many claimed they were.

They're not terri-bad, but they'll have to win by committee. Unless, of course, Galchenyuk does it by himself, but you can't expect that all the time.

Well usually, and I do stress usually, Junior teams are good based on how great their individuals are. You dissect Sarnia and do see that they are pretty average. I like their D though with Duininck, Murphy and Basson. I still believe that up front, you do have a problem getting a good top 6, imagine the rest. Though the Carnevale addition might fix it. Yet, you do count on rookie Goldobin to be stellar. And I'm not the biggest Anderson fan yet, I guess he'll do the job in Junior. So if the team ends up not as bad, it resides in the play of the game changing player....which ends up being Gally.

So, I have to be honest here and say that I've only watched them 3 times, if Sarnia isn't as bad as we all think, it's mostly because of how Gally picked up his game. Mostly. Not because we underestimated the rest of the team. I don't believe it.

So... How many people still think that Galchenyuk had his success because he was playing with Yakupov I wonder?

I haven't watched the game, but Sarnia was outshot 51 to 30. That's pretty terrible.

Galchenyuk is now 4th in league's scoring. Daaaayum!

Galchenyuk is one of 3 players in the top 10 of OHL scoring not drafted in 2011 (Sean Monahan is undrafted).

Whats great to see is that he is very implicated in most plays when he is on the ice. When he is off the ice it leads to a trickle down effect since his domination forces other teams to overcompensate in other areas to 'stop' him. His wrist shot precision is up as he is not trying to do crazy wind ups like he was doing in practicing in out of game situations. He is making quicker, more decisive moves and physically imposing himself in the play. He is finally using his: size; quick moves; vision; skating ability; hockey sense and ridiculously accurate and powerful shots by becoming the center of the play and not a perimeter force like what was happening the first 8 games.

Now this is all a great and inspiring hope for us Habs fans, but we have to also temper our expectations. Let him grow without the weight of the world on his shoulders - UNLESS - he ACTUALLY wants those expectations. Maybe he does have the drive to be a STAR. He has been very firm and adamant about his desire to be NOTHING but an NHL star. Point here is that he is good, but not to expect him to be a 100 point star right out of junior.

I don't think its safe to expect him to score 100pts, ever. Its possible but league scoring is going down, the chance is perhaps if he has a long career and theres a couple of high scoring years + good Habs teams at the right time. Otherwise he'll give us many seasons in the 65pt and 85pt range playing solid two way hockey I'm sure.

I think good expectations for his first season would be 40-50pts. I'd be surprised if he gets 60 as a rookie on our team. For that he'd basically need to be used as our main offensive force right away and paired with our best wingers. Perhaps if we sign Corey Perry or another star forward (which certainly won't happen).

I haven't seen a game of his yet but one thing I don't see in the highlights is his speed.

He doesn't look slow but for a guy who won that peak power output test at the combine I'd just expect his skating to be more explosive.

He can explode when he has to, I'm really not worried about his skating at all.

His skating is fine. A couple of overexuberant posters have said that he is incredibly fast which is also wrong. He has decent speed and very good agility.......he actually reminds me alot of Claude Giroux with his skating, puck skills, vision and drive.

Nothing yet on the Saginaw Spirit website or the OHL site. Our best hope is probably one of That/Twited/Hoto.

For what it's worth to those wondering about Sarnia, let me start by saying that there really are no terrible teams in the OHL right now. You could look at the standings and point to Erie and Peterborough as weaker links, but really there is not an easy mark out there. And Sarnia is a tier above those teams for sure.

They lack depth definitely, but if I were to give you an NHL comparable, it'd probably be a Florida or a Minnesota (pre-signings). i.e. Not a title threat by any stretch, but definitely not an easy 2 points.
