I don't follow the habs, obviously, but a third line protected center role may be what he needs.
If Therrien is smart, he would use Galchenyuk just like the way Claude Julien did with Seguin. For his 1st year, make him work on being responsable and show some flashes of his potential when the opportunity is there. Make him work on faceoffs, defensive awareness and only after that, give him top line minutes on a top 6 role and dominate completely. If well developed, Galchenyuk could become a very hard to play against two way forward. Just like Marian Hossa and Forsberg.

Fast forward to 2012, Montreal pick # 3 Alex Galchenyuck, Isles pick #4 Griffen Reinhart. History repeats itself. Knowing the Isles though, they probably would have picked Reinhart anyway, even if Gally was still available.
I do think Reinhart is an impressive talent. He kind of reminds me of Eric Johnson.

Best hands outside of pro hockey by a country mile. Watching him live is worth the price of the ticket to watch him handle the biscuit alone

I think one thing Montreal fans are going to figure out soon is that opposing teams can not let give Gally any space below the circles in the offensive zone because his shot is deadly accurate/quick, and his skillset and power to get around defenders is very impressive. I still think he's going to be the best player to come out of this draft.

Drouin is not nearly as good as a dangler as Galchenyuk, imo. As for Grigorenko, when he is on his game, I think he is just as good as Galchenyuk.

Also, Its annoying to see this thread be bumped each time Galchenyuk has a good game by Habs Fans....Be a little humble guys

Jonathan Drouin is pretty hard to beat in terms of stick handling.

Compared to what? the Reilly or Grigorenko thread?

As for habs fan... You gotta understand we didn't have such a blue chip in a LOOOOONNNG time. (not since Wickenheiser hope it turns out better this time...) So the scrutiny is on him like no other prospect since Crosby (not that he is as good as Crosby)

And since the lockout some fans are noticing minor leagues for the first time. Combine this and you get what you see from Habs, Leafs and other clubs fans.

Do you see how Galchenyuk gets himself away from defensemen or creates space for himself? Galchenyuk is a much better dangler.

Drouin has good hands too but he is not as good as Gally. Grigo CAN be as good as Gally at stickhandling when he is on his game but he doesnt use his skills as effectively as Galchenyuk.

Yeah we need to get them on the same team to really determine who's got the better dangles.

1 goal 2 assists so far tonight, back in beast mode after a quiet first period lol.

18-11-17-28

still some time in the 3th period.

interesting fact on Gally, out of the top 8 scorers on his team, him being obviously no1, he has also a +5 all others are ALL in the minus.. lol shows about his 2 way play.

94 Alex Galchenyuk C 18 11 17 28 +5 14 2 0 1.56 0.78
12 Charles Sarault C 18 7 15 22 -2 6 3 2 1.22 0.33
14 Reid Boucher LW 18 8 9 17 -1 18 4 0 0.94 1.00
* 71 Nikolay Goldobin RW 17 6 11 17 -5 6 3 0 1.00 0.35
16 Craig Hottot RW 8 4 7 11 -4 15 2 0 1.38 1.88
77 Anthony DeAngelo D 16 3 8 11 -4 12 1 0 0.69 0.75

Galchenyuk really has some sick mitts. My only concern with him was a lost year of development due to the knee injury, looks like it's not a concern anymore. Glad to see him on track to answering Montreal's need for a #1C.

7 points in 2 games. Too bad he didn't convert the golden opportunities 3 games ago.

Good to see him get going though, and he's making his teammates a lot better. Boucher and Serrault are reaping the rewards!

Amen. Drouin is my choice for the 2013 draft. Could be draft between 4th and 10th overall, where Montreal should pick if there's a season. Galchenyuk and Drouin would make a deadly top line with Pacioretty.

I would like to see either Shinkaruk or Drouin, bost will likely go top 10 at years end.

His dekes are crazy, from some highlights I've seen this year. He seemed to have a slow start, which is understandable as he had to gain confidence that his knee is 100%.

For whatever it's worth, Strome didn't even play more than 30 games in the OHL at the same age that Galchenyuk was a point per game player.
