And now Chaput gets his 2nd. 9-2? Can they make it to double figures?

Erixon has gotta be close to the +/- record.

He's at +6 right now.

The Whale has won 4 in a row prior to that game. What a rude way to end their winning streak.

The 10 Falcons goals are tied for the second most in franchise history...Springfield defeated Providence, 10-7, on Nov. 16, 1996

Cam and JAM are 2nd and 3rd stars of the game. Bench them more often.
Only 4 Springfield players without a point tonight. Moore, Savard, Russell and Smith.

I see that you guys scored a few goals, tonight.

Take it easy on us this Wednesday, guys.

Edit: Make that next Sunday.

Exciting times for CBJ
2004-05 Syracuse Crunch - 36-33-11, finished 5th in division and missed playoffs

2012-13 Springfield Falcons - "doesnt matter, Howsam can't draft derp!"

(Obviously, this year is very much unfinished, but I look forward to acquiring more ammo as the season progresses)

The good: Ten goals!

The not so great: I kept noticing silly turnover "passes". This disturbs me. Felt like we were being outplayed in the latter half of 2nd/first half of 3rd (when the Whale scored, basically); couldn't clear the zone at all. That is... familiar and worrisome.

Not going to argue with the results but I'd like to see that problem killed dead.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Yeah, I noticed that too in this thread and offered to bench Savard cause he couldn't make a pass or even clear the puck a few times in a row. The whole team just stopped playing and I felt like comeback was beginning.

Impossible. Larsen went straight from playing into coaching with Springfield with no prior experience, and then from assistant to head coach with no prior experience. If there's one thing that I've learned here, it's that prior experience is everything and anyone without it is doomed to be a flaming pile of failure.

I had to go buy a friggin' treadmill during the game. I ended up having to go BACK to the store because they didn't take the discount off and totally forgot about the Falcons game.

Great.

Then you have learned nothing.

It's not "prior experience" that determines whether or not you're going to be a failure. It's all about length of time associating with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

But I thought OKC was supposed to be the creme de la creme of the league. Surely since they have the big four, or is that big five, or is it the big seven, I lose track, they're all so well .... Big time.

It is still early but, but it's hard not to like what's going on.

So that begs the question, if the CBA gets settled, who comes up? After tonight's game one would say Erixon would be the #6 D but Moore has been the most consistent, from reports. Do you leave Johanen, Cam & JAM there to really percolate and mature and call up Russel and maybe a UFA? Or do you reward the youngsters for their work with a shot? Do you leave Murray with Everett or bring him up and part time him like Jonhansen last year?

This may not be the greatest year for the CBJ, but damn the future sure offers some promise.

Perhaps the success of the team and the top prospects is due to the players being where they should be at this stage of their careers?

Regardless, it is very encouraging to finally have a minor league affiliate performing at a level that suggests promise for the future.

My opinion, which I'm sure will be in the minority, is to leave as many of these guys as possible in Springfield for as long as possible to help the long term development of the Jackets.

I only think guys like Joey, Moore, Erixon, and Cam have a chance to make the team.

I'd argue that the success is due to the opposite, players playing down from where they should be, particularly on defense, but the point still stands.

Seriously, it's laughable how good that blueline looks. And the team's best defensive prospect isn't even playing for Springfield.

The future is bright folks
