The connection with Brunner could benefit the Red Wings once the NHL's work stoppage ends.
A number of NHL teams showed interest in the 26-year-old Brunner over the summer after he was named Swiss league MVP last season. Highly skilled and lightning fast -- "He ends up getting a lot of breakaways," said Shedden -- he signed with the Red Wings on July 1 and stayed at Zetterberg's house when he visited Detroit.
"In talking to Zetterberg, he likes him and thinks he should be able to play (in the NHL)," said Shedden.
I already took the right to edit Brunner's attributes little higher in my NHL 13. Right after trading Sammy, of course.
I first thought Brunner would be the sniper for Dats but apparently they are fitting him for Z or could they be uniting Z and Dats with Brunner the third man? And think Flip is enough to carry the second line?
Too bad I haven't see them/Brunner play this season.

Brunner playing well with Hank can only help him in making the big club when we finally get rolling again. I'd put Hank with Brunner and Franzen...give him linemates that has good chemistry with him.
We're still at the point where Datsyuk still doesn't have his own playmate...that's where Parise or even Semin would've solved that problem. I don't know if you just plug Nyquist and Filppula with him but I'd like a bigger guy to play on that line and Bertuzzi is past being a 1st line option.
Do you dare do something bold and just have Filppula slide to a 3rd line role just so he can center his own line and then shift Helm to 4th line just because there are too many centers on this team?
Hopefully this, but realistically Tatar isn't in the NHL until next year
Yeah, Tatar is out of the question this year unless there is an injury or four to the glut of forwards they already have. By '13-14 we should expect to see a lot more of him if he continues to thrive in the AHL because he'll basically outgrow that league and he'll have to play in the NHL...either with the Wings or he's traded somewhere that he can play full time.
in that article it talks about linus omark on their line as well and i thinkthe oilers pretty much gave up on him what about a trade to bring omark in and play with them or is he pretty much a wash/bust in the nhl????

There's no room for him. We have already better versions of small and skilled prospects in our system.
Would anyone be up for an Omark for Tatar and pick(s) trade? I live the Sauce, and I live our scouts and picks (it's why we are on this site), but I think their chemistry is something special.
General consensus over in the trade forum is that Omark isn't worth more than a 4th or 5th round pick. So in short, no way I give up Tatar+ for him. Especially when he was in the package for Rick Nash that was offered by Holland, at least I think he was.

I've read from many posters that watch Zug on a regular basis who say they can plug pretty much any guy onto that line and they would see results. No chance I would be willing to trade Tatar for him. If your looking for dealing a player for player I think Dick Axelsson is more the type. Two guys that are on the outs.

Nope, not interested in that deal at all. Not really interested in Omark at all either.
I have to be honest I think Tatar might be putting up the same or more points than Omark while playing with Z and Brunner in the Swiss league. Not only that but he actually knows how to play defense. Not interested in him going anywhere if it isn't for a stud player. Not a guy that washed out of the league and we know our brand new assistant coach hates. If a part of bringing Renney in, is in hopes of helping the dressing room dynamic. Something that has been stated by some people, why bring in one of the few players that a known player coach didn't get along with?
Omark getting a shot I wouldnt mind - but not at the expense of giving up Tatar.
According to Oilers fans hes a handful mentally. He had issues with Dubnyk and Sutton (contuining to deke on a warmup drill and slashing Sutton into a rage) that resulted in both guys snapping and going after him. IMO hes been a stud @ every level his entire life rolled into Edmonton on a terrible team and quickly found himself surrounded by younger, better, players and mentally couldn't adjust to not being "the guy".
