I've just applied 1/8th of my season ticket money toward a new refrigerator, one of those freezer-on-the-bottom models. It's a scratch & dent model, but still ... I don't care anymore.
So I was never one to blame Bettman for the lockout, but if Billy Daly is the one negotiating right now, and Bill Daly was apparently the one who negotiated the last CBA, is it crazy to think that maybe Bill Daly should be the commissioner?

Daly isn't the right personality type to keep 30 (29) egotistical owners together or more importantly to tell them "no" when it's in their own best interests, Bettman is. Daly does seem to be a better negotiator.
Bettman and older Fehr both are the big ego guys. Their reputations and what not get in the way of actual negotiations when they are in the same room. At least that's what it seems like.
The #2's they can capitulate to each other a little bit and it's not sign of weakness or anything like that because they are the #2's. Just how these kind of negotiations always seem to go down.
I have a small glimmer of hope but I'll believe it when I see it.
The fact they met in private tells me the two sides may finally be looking to get a deal done vs winning a PR war. Id be pumped if we have hockey in December.
All this getting my hopes up thing again just reminds me of the Parise race this summer. I'll be happy when a deal gets done, but in the meantime i'll be cautiously optimistic.
My sage advice: don't read it. You'll be better off reading the comics. The silver lining of this lockout has been no Rossi or Steigerwald. Don't deprive yourself of this benefit.

My life has been so much better since I unfollowed him on twitter.
Hate is a strong word. I would say I hate the way he does his job. I'm sure if he were an accountant or a dentist I wouldn't have any problem with him as a human being, or I would be indifferent at the very least (except his Indiana Jones hat -- I'd still give him **** if he wore that hat because he'd deserve it).

I applaud your social media restraint and encourage you to continue this trend of unfollowing media dweebs with lots of theories but not a lot of real information.
The latest on tomorrow's talks. Hopefully Fehr and Bettman can put their egos aside like Daly and the other, other Fehr did Saturday and make some forward progress. I'll settle for a first down at this point. Just move the damn ball.

Exactly. It is easier for them to make progress when they don't have to worry about maintaining their public image or having their words twisted/leaked.

I wear a brown fedora (indiana jones hats are the only fedoras that come in size 8 & higher at a decent price)
Yes but you're not Rob Rossi. Perhaps it suits you better than Rob. I can't say because I don't have a picture. But don't worry; if I give you **** it will be good-natured ****.
According to TSN, they are negotiating in a private location today. That is good news as far as I can tell. No need to grand stand to the media if you are actually negotiating.
