Blame Knapp, not veteran enough.

Time to look at signing Hasek, although he has no AHL experience so he's trash.

Yea he wasnt great but you cant blame knapp. It simply comes down to coaching. When the team goes to sleep every third period its an issue.

3rd period notes:
  • Blunden hauls Foligno down and gets two for holding, Amerks to the early PP; Mancari fires a wrister wide; Varone one-timer gobbled up by Mayer; penalty expires.
  • Another penalty to Hamilton, high-sticking called on Geoffrion, Amerks to the PP; uneventful, penalty expires.
  • GOAL! 2-1. Geoffrion; assists to St-Denis and Tinordi; St-Denis pinches and his shot squeaks behind Knapp, as Geoffrion crashes the crease and pokes the loose puck home.
  • GOAL! 2-2. Gallagher; assist to Holland; beats Knapp under his glove with a wrister from the slot.
  • Finley called for roughing, Bulldogs to the PP...
  • GOAL! 3-2 Bulldogs. Blunden; assists to Beaulieu and Gallagher; deflects the point shot to beat Knapp.
  • GOAL! 4-2 Bulldogs. Geoffrion; assists to Palushaj and Nash; streaks past Brennan and lets a wrister go, rebound returns to Geoffrion and buries the second chance.
  • GOAL! Tarnasky! Assist to Schofield; Tarnasky sets up Schofield in front and pokes in the rebound.
  • Knapp pulled with 1:00 to go; final whistle blows; scrum at whistle as Rankin takes an extra lick.
  • END OF 3RD PERIOD. RCH 3 - HAM 4. SHOTS RCH 27 - HAM 34.

Need a veteran defenseman. Too young for a league this talented.

They do, although I think it's more an internal matter for each team.

Was at game.

Foligno is awesome. Heads up, best player on the ice. And he ALWAYS went around looking for someone to hit. Then he went to the net, usually stickhandling through and around people. He's massive, seriously.

Pysyk was everywhere. Made great passes, heads up, quick shot. He was the pp qb. Looked like Jake Gardiner.

Crawford played well beside Finley. Big hits .

Zeggy is always getting into the dirty areas. Girgs is a keeper. Always round the puck.

People keep saying we need a veteran defenceman what we need is good coaching and better vet forwards. First of all the first hamilton goal the player dances around a vet forward. Coach should have called a timeout after the tying goal. Settle the players and the poor goalie. Our vet forwards did nothing last night but turn over the puck all night.Powerplay 3 for 23 coach makes no adjustments. Hamilton is the youngest team in the league and won.

1) Amerks don't need better vet forwards, Mancari is about as good as you can get, Porter does everything well, and Tarnasky is a very good 4th line guy.

2) The power play over the past 2 weeks going into the weekend was at 10 for 30 over 5 games. I don't expect Chris Taylor to change so quickly after 2 bad games.

Amerks need a goal scorer someone that creates mismatches like nyquist on Grand Rapids the other night. I think we just need more offensive prospects.

The defense is the biggest issue. They have not played strong as a unit in the few games I've watched. They lack a shutdown mean dmen and they lack experience.

Perhaps they do, but the Sabres have plenty of vet defensemen and the same crap happens to them time and again. It seems that the inability to hold two-goal leads is, above all, an organizational deficiency.

I think veterans are a bit different in the AHL.

Why does Rankin get so much ice time? PP,PK, seems like he is always one of Rolston's 1st choices. I understand he had a pretty good ending to last year and he probably gained the trust of Rolston but he gets way too much ice- probably the most out of the forwards.

He gets that ice time because he's a very good player. He's earned it.

I just don't see it- not a great skater, turns the puck over a lot. Benefits greatly by playing with Foligno and Hodgson (now Porter). He does have a nice shot, but outside of that I don't see much and think he gets way too much PT.

Rankin earned his first line bump as he backchecks, wins board battles and finishes checks. Not every role requires flashy hands, hits or wheels. I'm certainly not going to endorse awarding Adam-Varone-Mancari any more ice time. The bottom six has been quite effective with their ice time and roles and there's no need to change that up either. However, if you're looking to pump Flynn up because he had a two-goal game, I'd suggest waiting until he proves he can do it more consistently; after all, he's a rookie.

He's actually quite a good skater for the AHL. He scored many goals using it last season, just beating defensemen to the outside. Another thing, he's fearless. Will take the puck to the net or plant himself there constantly and get those goals.

I agree with most of that. Rankin has probably played better than Adam and Mancari this year. Mancari is great on the point on the PP but i havent seen much from him 5 on 5. I just think Rankin is out there way too much. I'd try to give some of his PK minutes to someone else. Flynn is already on PK- maybe Girgs? Rankin is getting more minutes than Foligno, Porter, etc. which should not be happeneing.

I think they ran out of gas. Hamilton was more fuel efficient and got a little boost from playing at home.

Girgs chases the puck waaaaaaaay too much to be on the PK at this time.
