The question is whats the capacity of the North Bay arena... Copps holds 8,819 fans and avg about 5-6k fans so we could def support a OHL team even tho it's a AHL team if the AHL team were to move they could support a OHL team
Memorial Gardens can accommodate a little more than 4000 spectators. Unlike most arenas, there is room to expand the seating in the south end of the building (probably another 500 seats) as well as expand the ice surface dimensions since the seating does not reach the boards.
so given roughly 4500-5000 ish could they pull those numbers or close to it per game because if they only pull in numbers like brampton does i dont see OHL accepting the move from Brampton to north Bay
AND don't forget that the biggest no-nothing in hockey broadcasting Nick Kypreos is a former North Bay Alumni!
lol i will match go on to say we had 3 actual Alumni NHL players that played for our last Hamilton team in Shayne Corson, Keith Primeau and former NHL Bob Probert
Pissed we have lost out on two ohl teams now, I wish Montreal would get their ***** and gear and decide if they are extending their lease with Hamilton or moving the team so we can move on and get a new hockey team I Hamilton
With north bay getting their ohl team Hamilton will get the next relocation I can sense it prob miss if they move next.. It's perfect they changed their name to steelheads and hamiltons former team used to be called steelheads

I think Brampton's move probably makes the Steelheads more secure. Those rinks were so close to one another...with say 3/4 of the combined fanbase, it may be a viable franchise... Hamilton sort of infringes on Niagara's trading area so to speak, especially with areas like Grimsby, Stoney Creek etc.

Don't fret just yet....I heard from a reliable source there will be another team on the move for next year!

You would think so but I would be willing to bet the increase in attendance will be at best...........marginal!
IMHO....If MLSE were to buy a team and have double headers with the Marlies would be the only way to make a team in the GTA work.
I live in North Bay and im ecstatic for this. I'm really looking forward to the new renovations that will be taking place on our area. When i first heard this rumour, I never thought that we'd put in 10+ million into our area so i didnt get my hopes up, but now im super excited. With this lockout ive been missing hockey that much more, and I've just been wishing that we had an OHL so i could go get my fix of hockey.
If I wasn't a University student having to pay for everything, I would totally be buying season tickets. With that said, I will be planning on going to as many games as I can.
Dont forget the lovable Paul Bissonnette is a North Bay alumni
North Bay Battalion doesn't actually sound that bad to be honest.
I can't see the Cents name being used again - but I could be wrong.
I was just thinking that too... They gotta get another mascot though, mascots are supposed to entertain the fans, mostly the kids.. this guy is terrorizing the kids, he looks like he's about to shoot someone. No wonder the place was empty! Wasn't there an army base in North Bay before? or something army related?

There's a NORAD base at the airport in North Bay. They monitor the radars spread out across the arctic.
There have been a lot of fan suggestions - all of which suck for a bunch of teams. I've seen a suggestion where Owen Sound, North Bay, Sudbury, Soo and Barrie form one division (that would really suck for Owen Sound) and moving London to the west from the mid-west.
I'm quite sure they'll do some sort of realignment - I'm hoping they don't screw up rivalries too much.

if Owen Sound buys a boat it wont be so bad, they just cut across the water and they're already on Manitoulin Island.
