Assuming this thread is based on perry\getlaf not resigning in Anaheim that's a good package for a rental IMO

There isn't much value in that package as far as NHL upside save for Kassian, Jensen, Gaunce, and Connaughton and none of those guys really has superstar upside like the guys being acquired.
If I was the Anaheim GM I'd begin with asking for what I listed. For one.

I don't see why Anaheim would sell these two down the river if Hiller returns to 100% condition then Anaheim starts to look much better then where they finished in the standings.

The only reason to sell either of them is if they wont resign with the team. Other than that, they wont sell them in the foreseeable future.

I'm not reading through five pages, what would Ducks fans realistically want for Perry as a rental, he is my dream winger for Tavares.

I doubt they would WANT to sell them. But IF it looks unlikely that they can be resigned? Selling them could mean the difference between missing the playoffs for 5 years or for 2 years.

They could get some very good pieces back for these guys. Priority #1 SHOULD be to resign them, because then there's no reason to rebuild, they already have their franchise forwards and just need to tweek certain roster spots. But if it's clear they want to leave? They'd be crazy to not try and build a bidding war.

Kovalchuk?

Why wouldn't you rather have Bobby Ryan? He's locked up for 3 more years, and has pretty close to the same NHL exp. as JT. Not saying he's available, but he seems to be the better option than a rental Perry.

Well Canucks existing roster + Perry + Getzlaf - salary to be moved around (argumentatively Ballard, Malhotra, Raymond and Luongo or Schneider moved for as little salary back and two bottom 4 defenders)....that's a cup.

If it was guarenteed to win us a cup, and Getzlaf and Perry fill two of our primary problems in the playoffs, grit and scoring, and both in a major way, I'd gladly sell the farm. Hell, sign Ellis as a back up and give them Lack and Rodin too if they want, Corrado and Sweatt...what ever prospects we have for both.

Thing is, I don't think a proposal featuring nothing but prospects and picks would get it done, unless the Ducks are intent on getting Mackinnon.

Why don't we just have Francesco Aquilini buy the Chicago Wolves and trade the franchise straight up for Getz, Perry and Ryan while we're at it

Are the Islanders really in a position to be after rentals? Rentals don't come cheap, and by definition are temporary.

Haha I'm not the GM, I'm a fan who is just wondering what Corey Perry's value is as a rental. Why so serious!?

Hodgson + prospect + 1st

As a rental this should be the foundation.

Young top 6+prospect+1st

ok sure, whatever it takes.

Seriously though, If I was Gillis I would out bid everyone for Perry.

Serious question for Ducks fans:

Would they be leaving due to monetary or stability concerns, or would it be most likely to be to explore free agency?

For a deadline deal? I'd say that's pretty solid. It's only if Perry intends on leaving the Ducks anyways. He'd go to the highest bidder. What would another team offer that's better than that?

Anaheim would get better offers. Prospects who were close to NHL-ready, and/or rostered players.

exactly^ more proven assets rather than marginal late rounder picks who are big a ?'s as can be.

to your defense though you throw two huge caveats in 1. He isnt going to resign and 2. Its the deadline.

with that in mind its not a bad offer man
