As much as I have criticized Bryz, I would still be fighting to be first in line to become a fan of his should he come back and have a respectable year.
A goaltender's performance is so noticeable and magnified-- can't be easy.
Vladimir Myshkin, goalkeeper coach for the Russian national team explained why Iliya Bryzgalov was not invited to play at “Karyala” Cup.
Q: The major surprise thus far in the KHL is a weak playing by Iliya Bryzgalov in CSKA. What do you think is happening with him?
A: I would not want to comment on club matters. But you can see for yourself that at this time Iliya does not match the level of the national team. He is far from the optimal form.

I'm sorry but Bryz has a very unprofessional attitude..he needs to put up and shut up. It's very disconcerting that the same drama we had all last year is playing out in his own country....
I'm going to flip if Bob winds up being the franchise goalie we have been seeking for decades and Bryz winds up being Biron-like (mediocre) with an annoying bad attitude...

What happened to Bryz saying he was "skinny and ready." I know it's the KHL and it's not happening here but why can't we just read that he is doing well. Just too much talk and not enough action on his part...
I actually thought his interview was hilarious haha. I really love Bryz. its a shame he's shaping up to be a substandard goalie.
Hopefully he can string together some good games and become a decent goalie out here.
Edit: I do want to say that bobrovsky is still my favorite goalie in the NHL, so if he turns out to be incredible in Columbus, i will hate Bryzgalov regardless of how well he plays. haha

How can you not like his personality away from the rink. The guy is hilarious.
He is more suited for telling jokes at a Friday night bar than playing goaltender for anything but an in house non contact league team.

So it's Barulin and Bobrovsky then? I would've gone with Eremenko and Varlamov, but what can you do

Yeah, I agree with this. He does need to start letting his play do the talking, and in a good way. While I don't think he's been as bad as the stats might imply, he definitely isn't one of the top KHL goalies right now. I wasn't expecting him to tear it up, because it's a tough league with a lot of good goalies, but it sucks seeing him being outperformed even by Bobrovsky.
I hope Pronger is getting better and can play again. Then if there is an amnesty rule we can get rid of Bryz. I know MFL is here but there has to be someone out there without a contract that can play decent goal.
You're overacting. Bryz is going to be decent, but as much as I hope I'm wrong, I don't see him playing like other goalies in his salary range are, either.
Are people still pissed at the Bryz that was absolutly dominant down the stretch? The one with the flyers shut-out record and one of three players to turn up against a NJ devils side in the play-offs.
While he was bad against the penguins, did you also notice how well either of the pens keepers did..........
I dont give a damn. Just because the other guy was marginally worse doesn't excuse that performance. He got lucky the other guy just melted down worse; that rarely, if ever happens. What I care about is our guy was horrific for a playoff series and that's unacceptable.
