Then what was the NHL reasons for annoucing the game this past February? Did they think the NHLPA would see this and want to get a deal done? The reason I say that is past history shows us the previous Winter Classic games were always announced during the month of July.

Maybe they thought it would put pressure on the NHLPA? If so they thought wrong.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

to be honest I hate the game aspect itself but I loved the traditional aspect of it. Those classic Oilers vs Habs games and Flyers vs Rangers were a treat. I truly enjoyed seeing Bernie Parent play those 5 minutes in his old school gear.

When this game was first announced I got mostly excited of what may essentially be game 8 of the 1993 wings/leafs series. Dougie and Wendel together again, maybe Potvin in net.... okay I know it wouldnt be just that team but still that's what I was excited about.

i agree with you, i think there is a chance that this could be a negotiation ploy..only reason i think this is that there have been a few reports saying that the latest they could go before cancelling was november 15th..250K deadline..not important, there could be a verbal agreement to pay at a later date..or maybe the money was already paid..it could be a deposit towards 2014 if they dont play in 2013..anyhow this is just the opinion of somebody who at the end of the day doesnt really care what happens

Keep dodging the question.

Why are you STILL a fan then?

All is does is make you miserable? Why put yourself (and everyone on the board) through that?

Hope that it will get better?

The Leafs have done little but piss me off for quite some time now (though I actually like Burke and the direction he's taking things). I personally hated the JFJ years, particularly near the end where he was trading future pieces for a team that was clearly not good enough to do anything, followed by Fletcher, argh, it pisses me off just thinking about it.

But I endure, because one day, hopefully before I die, this team will not suck. Might even win a cup.

Exact way I feel, that was more directed towards ForSpareParts.

This sucks. The last 9 years sucked. But I see little value in being overly-negative about it, and furthermore expressing it to people who try to stay positive (while being realistic), not only hockey but in real life.

Maybe it's just me, but I get fed up with over-negativity when it's persistent.

I've already answered it mr. ********. You don't stop being a fan. There's not just one type of fan. You advocate complacency and I don't. You don't know me. Just because I criticize Burke and all the losing we've been doing doesn't mean I'm miserable.

Unlike some people, there are other things in life (some are discovering that now with the lock out).

My advice:

Always remind yourself of that.

The perception around here is,

ForSpareParts = Disgruntaled Observer Lite

Incase you didn't know.

You may not see your posts as nagging, negative and over the top, but thats how everyone else sees them.

Well, GM's are temporary the team is going to outlast the current management group.

People tend to think Burke is important to the franchise, but the franchise will live long and prospect long after Burke's reign of terror is over.

********? You're one of the least positive people on this board. Your butt, sir, is the one that hurts the most.

I guess I just don't see the point in coming on here and trying to make people feel stupid about wanting to and purchasing tickets to this game. Maybe it's just me, but I so no motive, and no reward in doing so.

Would've been a great experience for all.

It is true that GM's are transient, but IMO Burke got dealt a terrible hand. Old team, no useful prospects, some pretty lousy contracts. He has added a ton of real assets (and flipped others for other valuable ones). He's completely fleeced some GM's for a lot of additional assets, and in general, our team actually has a future now.

I do wonder if he'll last long enough to see it all come together though. It has certainly taken a while, but then again, we were in a TERRIBLE spot when he took over IMO.

They missed the payment, there is no classic this year.

Stupid NHLPA though it was a "scare tactic" yet it was just booking.

I would think the Players would care very little if an Outdoor game is ever held.
