The bonuses were not achieved. 3 year ELC. The floor should up made up of actual cash spent on salaries. No AAV. The Islanders will be getting revenue sharing dollars in this CBA. Spend that money on player salaries.

A breakdown in talks (this week) will almost surely push us to a mid Dec start at the earliest and a 45+ game season so that's the battle.

I'm still skeptical that a deal can be done at this moment but hey...
if I'm wrong I get to see a longer season so it's a win... win.

I see. So they were performance bonuses as opposed to signing bonuses I take it.

So, I'm thinking "somewhat late" is 10-11 PM, which would make the meeting about 6-7 hours long.

I think late tonight they're going to announce that they have a deal and that the season will start immediately, with Detroit and St. Louis having already played the season opener earlier tonight. Detroit won 3-1.

About damn time there's some respect for the process. Time to hammer this out without the media.

Meeting for several hours, saying nothing afterwards with plans to resume meeting tomorrow is probably best anyone could've hoped for today.

Best sign yet.

However, people will flip because of the lack of information (doesnt matter if its true or false).

A deal's getting done soon. I say within a week. You don't have Steve Fehr and Daly meet for 9 hours without any hope.

Good news, though. I'm starting to feel optimistic. I didn't follow the lockout this close last time (no twitter, hadn't found hfboards, didn't care as much as now), at this time of year last lockout, where were they in the process of reaching a deal? I can't remember, was it known that the season was most likely going to be lost?

from my understanding either not talking at all...I did not follow it much I was finishing high school and getting ready for college...but from what I recall about it and what has been talked about it...there was some point the PA offered a 24% rollback on salaries and the nhl took that and added a cap onto it...and I think that might have been around this time

To my recollection the league was always pushing a cap... The players offered the 24% and the league said "Ok... But we still want a cap."

Again different times... I was on Lohud back then and not hf but info came out a lot slower. Crazy dark ages... They probably drilled holes in people's heads to let the evil spirits out back then.
