I would take Lundqvist over any of them. Hell, I'd even take Rinne.

Hunt must be taking a beating, only 2700 there tonight

Graovac with 2 more and Assaly with his first 67's down 5-3 going into 3rd.

Hey Ottawa fans.... You watch Monahan more than I have. Which player would you compare him too? I've seen comparisons to Toews but I don't see it (though only seen him 4 times). Does he really play like Toews?

I thought he kind of looked like Couts but then I look at Monahans point total and it would appear his offensive game is way better. Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated

From http://twitter.com/AJonSports:

The 67's are down to 1 import with Richard Mraz going back to Slovakia. Mraz a disappointment with 1 PT in 8 GP. Had 5 PTS in 2012 WJC

When was the last time this team had a decent Euro forward?

Kaspar maybe?

Yea he and Petruzalek are the last 2 I can remember being half decent.

I wonder if we could get Zikmund to come over.

You ain't ready for him tho. The ECHL AIN'T READY TOO OR THE AHL AND EVEN NHL.

HECK, the lockout is in place due to fear of Wikstrand ripping training camp then pre-season then winning the NORRIS.

NO ONE IS READY.

He's a bit over-hyped though.

Toews is a very apt comparison for Monahan and the most common parallel you'll get from these parts. Similar upside; similar style of play. He has no business being as good as he is in his own end at such a young age. IMO NHL ready. He'll jump right onto whichever team drafts him and find a role.

Only thing that bugs me about the comparison is I just can't see Monahan ever skating like Toews. The hockey sense and scoring well above your skill level is uncanny between the two players though. Both guys make the right decision every time. Both guys seem to have an innate understanding of body position, both guys win battles constantly with using minimal physical force. Great sticks. Very good shots.

Monahan may never be the same level of skater as toews but its not Toews' speed that makes him such an effective player. He could be average speed and still be as good as he is imo.
