Phoenix LXIV: Will You Still Need Me, Will You Still Read Me, on Thread LXIV?
The Sherwood versus Douglas race is also important. Sherwood is your man if you want the Coyotes in Glendale. Douglas is the woman for you if you want the Yotes outta town for good. That race is a dead heat, at the moment.
Clark who would help the Coyotes stay in Glendale is currently trailing Shavira who would not help the Coyotes stay in Glendale.
The moat important component, though, is prop 457. No on 457 helps the Coyotes stay put. Yes basically runs them out of town on a rail. Right now NO is way ahead. Good news for folks who want the Coyotes to stay.
" No" has won - the margin is too large. The money will be there for the AMF.

That's good to know, I will start adding the race with the updates.
Major - Where do Weiers/Cruz and Sherwood/Douglas stand on the Jamison lease?
Cruz and Weiers are both pro keeping the Coyotes, yet not with subsidies. IIRC, both wanted Arena Managment RFP's, Weiers even wants to scrap the Glendale Suite at Jobing. If of the two a no-deal had any legs it would be Weiers as he said that keeping the Coyotes without "as much" money as is being offered, whereas Cruz already feels a deal would still get crammed through (capitulating already?)
Weiers has Scruggs' support and the Governor's
(Frate's seat) Sherwood supports AMF (how much is still to be determined), Douglas vehemently opposes AMF and keeping the tax increase.
Chavira wants the team to stay, only if done right. Think he said current AMF proposal is too much. Also said that if they left he's confident they can find another anchor tenant
(Lieberman's seat - Cactus Dist) - Both are against deal, tax increase
So they voted in people who don;t really like the AMF deal, but voted for the tax increase that supports the current AMF deal?
The sales taxes can go to anything the city wants it to go to. The tax was never specifically earmarked for the AMF. You can support the tax and be against using it for the Coyotes.
It should provide $20-$25 million a year. Once GJ and the JSG are paid their pound of flesh the COG can divert some funds to police and fire.
You really have to wonder about the people who live in Glendale if they did in fact vote to keep a tax increase but of course many of them did vote NO to say no to the tax increase as well.
