Took my potential personal assistant with me for a busy day:

1st I let her hang around at the monthly Real Estate Auction, picked up a couple properties which weren't my favorite as they don't conform to my usual modus operendi but fit into the ballpark of what the market has evolved to

2nd I took her to the properties to do the walk-through and then discuss with my GC exactly what I want done and the timeframe

3rd While waiting for the GC, I taught her how to measure, questimate costs, create a punch list of repairs / improvements

4th Met with the GC, had her deal with him...then I tossed her the keys and told her to drive to the 2nd house while I bs'd

5th Got to the house and she couldn't get in, so we had to break a bathroom window and put her through it

6th Allowed her to take the measurements, attempt to questimate the costs and create the punch lists...didn't do too bad for her 1st attempt

7th Allowed her to discuss timelines and provide advice on how best to proceed to get the 2 houses on the market asap

8th Following that we went to a Flooring Liquidator to order tile and carpeting for the houses.

9th Then finished up with a scratch and dent kitchen outlet to get appliances and cabinetry...its amazing how much they slash off the price for a gouge along the side that you'd never see unless you pull them out. I spent under 1k for year old midgrade stainless steel stoves and dishwashers for the 2 houses. I just need to get refrigerators as I screwed up and forgot to measure the opening for the existing kitchen and I won't be sure of the other one until the cabinets are in.

Going to let her run with it and see how she does, albeit with a watchful eye.

Neither of the houses are too bad...one is basically lipstick on a pig; appliances, tile in the wet areas, new carpeting and paint while the other will also have a wall knocked out to open the kitchen, appliances, new cabinets, counters and lighting for the kitchen and then the typical lipstick on the rest of the house. Budget for the houses are 10k and 20k respectively though I realistically expect the 1st will be closer to 6k and the 2nd around 16/17k. Both are 4bd/2.5ba in the 2200sf range and I need them done within 3 weeks to take advantage of the big military relocation period that starts mid dec.

I make my lasagna with mozzarella and swiss cheese. I also do half beef half sausage for the meat.

Edit: to clarify I noticed my earlier post said does have ricotta it was suppose to read DOESN'T have ricotta. That stuff is nasty.

Yep. They also picked up lunch for my temps last week and I got a free meal out of it.

It's how my mom made it when I was growing up because she didn't like ricotta either. I for the longest time thought that was how lasagna was made until I had it at a restaurant for the first time as a teenager and had to send it back and get something else cause I couldn't take the ricotta.

Just something about the texture/taste combination I can't do.

Well, facebook has officially crashed for me on the Iowa announcement by CNN.

Can't say I'm too upset about that.

I have to agree with you on that one ace. Lazagna without ricotta is basically a giant flat speghetti parm.

I make mine with Ricotta and Mozzerella cheese, Mixed Ground beef and mild sage sausage (the bob evens savory sage) and a little extra sauce. If you do the ricotta right it should be smooth and creamy not grainy, and not bitter either. Many people get that wrong. My way is to add a large pinch of sugar to the ricotta when I mix in the spices and parm cheese into it.

I understand how important yesterday was, and I know many people are very happy and/or very upset. But the extremity and often the ignorance of these facebook statuses just drives me bonkers.

That said, let's talk about something else today.

Clock and I are thinking of hosting a huge NYE event. I'm looking forward to it.

I look forward to it every year =) Last year was a blast to watch all the people they had on for interviews and all the cool auctions they had. Even the one that Notch took over by bidding 10 grand on his own auction.

I've tried to maintain a level of middle ground and there has been some (plenty) of modifying permissions for news feeds.

Moving on to other things:

My kids have 6 scheduled days off from school this month. They don't have a full five-day week until the final week of the month. Luckily, they've been pretty good so far through the first two (plus the October Sandy Day last week) for this month. We'll see how their behavior progresses and if it continues. Plenty of outside time so far.

I'm on my third conference call of the morning and I have a bunch of communications waiting for me when I get done. That said, I'm going for a run on lunch. I haven't been out in over a week and I don't want to back-slide on this. I have another 5K in a couple weeks (skipping the Turkey Trot this time around) and need to keep moving.

Considering I got a text message from my boss while I was out voting during lunch yesterday basically telling me to get back immediately, I don't dare leave today.

He knew exactly where I was too. Something apparently could not wait another 15 minutes. Sorry, my civic duty takes precedence. You know what I went to do. You can wait 15 minutes for your non-urgent issue.
