Leafs at #2 overall (why would you assume they'd get that pick anyhow?), would be better served drafting a center.
Hall is a stud. Why on earth would Edm look to trade this KID? He's so young, his best is yet to come. So unless a mystery team in need of a young top line winger comes calling Tambo offering up a legit #1 dman, Hall goes nowhere. Its a shame folks keep assuming the Oilers will dump one of their "kids" just because they have four of them. It doesnt make them ANY less valuable. Oilers are being patient, a proper rebuild. The forwards will grow together, Dubnyk will try to prove he's the man, IMO they are a top pairing dman away from pushing into the playoffs in a season or two.
Edmonton cant give up Hall. On hfboards people dont seem to think too much of him, but his only downside is his injury history, which may or may not be overblown. Considering he just CRUSHED Brodin on a huge hit with his shoulder that he had repaired, im thinking it's probably doing alright.
Anyone who watches Oiler games knows that Hall legitimately drives the entire offence of the team.
Maybe Eberle is a more realistic target, although Eberle straight across for the #2 pick seems more likely.
To everyone who says we can't keep the big four, Chicago kept their four best forwards, have a top ten defence and are a contender every year. We can keep all four happily, so we pass and laugh at you silly leaf fans hoping for something valuable for all your terrible play.
Pretty ironic considering 2 of the 4 came from finishing dead last in the entire league, and another from finishing 2nd last and winning a lottery? Don't ya think?
terrible terrible trade. Memo to HF you all say Hall is the least valuable of the big 4. On HFOil he routinely wins the polls of most valuable of the big 4. He is future captain and just signed a 7 year deal.
Memo to HF posters, you need to read the offer in order to break it down.
Marc Staal
Dimitri Kulikov
John Carlson
Keith Yandle
Thats what I'd be looking to do if Im Tambo.
the only problem with this deal is how will eberle adjust to playing with 4 different teams at the same time. He seems to adjust at every level so the extra travel shouldn't affect him too much. Phoenix/Florida/Washington/NYR might need to add though..
I read the op and I assume your team wont give up Gardiner or something of similar value so the + doesnt matter and my post still stands
In terms of value Gardiner actually sounds about right as the missing link to this deal.
If you break it down, Hall is worth slightly more than Jones, and Gardiner is likely worth slightly more than the Oilers pick if it's 10-15 range...doesn't make much sense from either side in terms of needs imho but the value seems about right, huh?
Hall > 2nd overall
10-15 overall < Gardiner
Edm would potentially have an elite top 4 defense core, while still having Yakupov, Eberle, RNH up front...

It's Hall + 1st for 2nd overall + ?
There is no ? on Toronto's roster including a package of Gardiner, Kessel, and Lupul that would tempt the Oilers to part with Hall, even if it meant they were able to swap a 10th overall pick for a 2nd overall pick in 2013.
Bear with me here, but my proposal is contingent on a lot of 'ifs'
If the complete season is lost to a lockout and the Leafs are awarded with the second overall pick, would you target the Edmonton Oilers as a trade partner?
Some would jump at the opportunity to draft a defender like Seth Jones. He along with Rielly would make our defensive core among the leagues best. However, we have a glaring need at the forward position, specifically center.
Would you be willing to trade down in the draft to select between 10-15 and acquire Taylor Hall in return for that second overall pick +?
Trade Proposal:
Toronto Maple Leafs trade:
2nd overall pick +
Edmonton Oilers trade:
10-15th overall pick
Taylor Hall
I chose Taylor Hall in particular as I feel Edmonton would be willing to give him up before RNH, Yakupov and Eberle. I find it difficult for the Oilers to sign all these top young forwards with a limited defensive core aside from Schultz. As for Taylor Hall, he could easily move to center Phil Kessel and perhaps Lupul. This would make our top 6 look like:
LUPUL-HALL-KESSEL
JVR-GRABO-KULEMIN
Now tell me that doesn't look sexy. Get er' done Burkie
As Oiler fans, what would the Leafs need to include in the deal in order for this deal to happen? Would you personally make this deal?
Thoughts?

Otherwise you could offer Tim Connolly + ? for Ryan Getzlaf. No one would even bother with a thread like that. Put some effort into the offer.
He is trying to create a discussion on what the plus should be...nothing wrong with that imho. Other than the fact that most posters here can't read one full post before responding.
Not necessarily(at least based on potential). And Hall doesn't play C, which was the premise of the OP. Barkov and Monahan both have legit 1st line potential.
