when i say steal i mean by how much he fell, i thought it was a typo when i first saw it, like most people have said he was ranked in the top 20 on most lists.
If that's the case, Mikhail Stefanovich was the steal of the 08 draft...ranked as high as 17 I believe, we got him at 98! A steal isn't something you determine 4 months down the line. You'll get the rare O'Reilly who plays right out of the draft from the 2nd round, and obviously know right away, but for most prospects, it takes a couple years at least before you know if they're a steal or not.
Who's a steal?
Matt Finn being a steal is a huge statement to make. We got something better than we expected. The 35th pick is a high pick.
As of now, I think grigo has the potential to make every team that passed on him look like a fool. Cam fowler dropped a few spots and looks to be a stud d-men if he ever develops. Tyler Seguin could be the "steal" of his draft year considering EDM chose Hall (injury ridden) over him. Eberle at pick #22. Karlsson @15.
I'm not sure if Matt Finn has that big of an upside but if he becomes a 1st-pairing D that wins us a cup.. now that's a steal. Way too early to say anything.
He could be turn out to be Scott Neds or a bust that never makes it to the nhl after a knee injury.
To sumarise what Scott walker (finn's coach) said on hockey central.
"He is amazing. He does what ever we want. He says hes more defensive, but hes an all around player. I tell the scouts that he is amazing. He plays tired, he plays sick. I tell them that when he has an off night to blame me. I play him to much, every situation i want him out there. When hes fresh he is fantastic. "
