He's been an extremely effective two-way forward with a little bit of grit.

Certainly better than his stats indicate but it is a bit worrying that he hasn't produced much yet. He is very reliable defensively, great on the PK and his speed generates plenty of chances. Hopefully the points start to come.

I agree with you in principal, but in actuality we're talking about a player who isn't even 10 games yet into the season, and who is a rookie in this league. There are going to be growing pains, and most of them are going to show up early. This is when we see how Vatanen adjusts.
