Perhaps the NHLPA gave on their revenue share, and in exchange demanded an additional increase in revenue sharing?
That tweet makes it seem like a petty game of moving the goal posts.
Reports say its not going well. NHLPA made new proposals on the key issues. Want owners to go from 200m in proposed rev sharing to 260. Also dont want to immediately go down to 50/50, proposed a gradual decrease and eventual 50/50 in yr 3

Yup. All of that seems to be true.
But it is still less arbitrary than that tweet suggested, right?
Assuming you can re-sign bought out players immediately, I think Briere makes the most sense with a 6.5M cap hit for 3 more seasons (including the upcoming one).
Assuming you can't re-sign bought out players immediately, Pronger may be the only option that makes sense because we already traded Bob and have noone to replace Bryz.
Don't like briere alot, but 3 yrs is manageable. Plus, his contract is very tradable as most of the money has been paid to him. I'm not concerned about the NMC, it can be done.
I'll take 4+ more years of 4.9m dead space vs 7+ of what I also consider dead space...(at least likely the last 5 seasons).

#CBA Fehr wouldn't divulge details of meeting but said two sides will re-convene tmrw
Chris Johnston@reporterchris
The NHL did in fact respond to NHLPA proposals today.
Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Gary Bettman says there's "still a lot of work to do."
Michael Russo @Russostrib
I'm told that today's meetings with the #NHLPA were "constructive." Progress is being made slowly. Internal meetings for both tonight
Doug Maclean @DougMaclean
The Board of Governors were sent a memo last nite from bettman saying if no traction today ,talks could breakdown. Obviously traction today.
John Shannon @JSportsnet
Told that league not sure if there was any real traction today. Will have to wait for PA's response on Friday
I don't know if it is a good sign or not, but I got a call from the guy I buy my Flyers tickets from today (he works for the Flyers, not a third party). I forgot to call him back though so I don't know if he was trying to get me to buy Sixers tickets, which he has done before, or if he was going to tell me they were being told to start selling tickets. Probably the Sixers tickets. :-/

He was calling about Phantoms tickets for when they come to town. I bought tickets to a Phantoms game probably 4 years ago, and I got a call from a guy today. I didnt answer, nor call him back, but he left me a voicemail.
John Shannon @JSportsnet
So tomorrow's meeting in NYC, NHL will listen to NHLPA's response to the NHL's response of the NHLPA's proposals.Make sense? Somehow Yes.
Michael Grange @michaelgrange
So ... #NHLPA still looking for fixed $ in yrs 1,2&3. Their share of HRR dips based on revenue growth. No deal yet, in other words
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Told that NHL upped its total money in its revamped revenue sharing model today, north of the $200 M that was in their Oct. 16 proposal

Am I reading this right? Does this mean the NHL has basically now come back with an offer that is higher than their original offer (and therefore be rejected by the NHLPA)?

Yes, no one has a clue what's going on, but they've given lots of secret info to their ticket salesmen...

I don't think you are reading it right. The NHLPA wants revenue sharing to be higher. Something like 240M to 260M. The NHL was offering 200M and is now being rumored to come back with a number higher than 200M which would be closer to the NHLPA's asking price, so this is a good thing!
Michael Grange @michaelgrange
Fehr left the meeting without making a statement. Going to #NHLPA office for 615 conference call with executive committee #NHL
@reporterchris: Donald Fehr says the NHLPA "has some things to consider.
@reporterchris: There's a chance CBA talks resume again tonight
Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN
#CBA Three meetings today covered 1) Critical dates/schedules/calendar items 2) Players' pensions and 3) core economic issues
Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Gary Bettman will address the media in five minutes.
Michael Russo @Russostrib
#NHL #NHLPA talks have broken off for now, and not in a good state, I'm told. NHLPA having conf. call with Exec. Board/Neg Committee soon

I was fine until I saw Bettman was holding a press conference. That's not a good sign, at all.
Is he saying the union did not inform the players of its offer?
That offer was pretty well-publicized, and didn't Fehr's memo address it?
That's what it looks like
Lebrun just confirmed on TSN that he has been hearing that all info is NOT making it to the players!
Renaud just said on RDS that there's a strong rumor that Ferh doesn't say every infos to players.
adater @adater
Talked to NHL management person who says Fehr wants 100% of 2012-13 salaries even in shortened season. If true, that's out of line. (1)
adater @adater
(2) you can't expect 82 games' worth of pay in, say, a 66-game season. Come on now, players. Let's get real
adater @adater
NHLPA pushing back on Fehr not informing players about NHL offer. "Utter bull****"
adater @adater
Lots of Fehr loathing right now from NHL. Some fear he wants to blow up sport altogether in current form, start over with no cap (1)
adater @adater
(2) that is the very paranoid conspiracy view, but it's out there.
Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie
Told that PA proposed that players get last year's share plus 5 pct this yr regardless of schedule length/actual revenue...
Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie
Last year's share was 1.883B...plus 5 pct would be $1.977B...would likely eat 65-67 pct of revenue in 66-68 game season.

Just to put it out there, but the NHL's interests are best served by a massive public backlash against Fehr.
There were a half dozen players in the room the last few days, right? This doesn't add up.
