Meetings should have started at 1 pm mt it's now 6:30 pm mt so roughly 5 and a half hours
Great news, they must be (hopefully) putting aside the BS and actually trying to make a deal.

Get it done boys.

NHLPA announces that meeting has wrapped for the night. Both sides will meet again tomorrow: Lebrun

So long meeting today no comments from either side at this time more meetings will be held tomorrow, the fact that the two sides arent taking time to bad mouth each other with media is a good thing also more meetings for tomorrow its hard to say where we are at in terms of actually getting a deal done but there is lots of reasons for cautious optimism the process seems to be moving along imo

It's absolutely f'in ridiculous that it has to come down to the season almost being toast to get both sides to sit down and start discussing the CBA. I am mostly pro-owner, but a big F YOU to both Bettman and Fehr for this whole debacle.

They have talked more in the last week than the last year and a half. It's asinine. If you're a corporate sponsor, how much do you really want to commit to a product that is perpetually in labor peril? They need to make this agreement longer and work something in there to start talking before it expires. It's f'in ludicrous.

it will probably end this month, next week possibly. but the systemic problems will remain. another lengthy lockout next time around.

Well if the PA actually wanted the league to fix these "systemic issues" they would have focused on revenue sharing and moving poor teams instead of HRR and fulfilling current contracts.

For the first time in this bullcrap lockout, I feel a strong sense of optimism that this lockout will end and we will have a season. Let's hope the light at the end of the tunnel is really the end and not an oncoming train.

Assuming the deal gets done and the season starts Dec 1, will the schedule change? My friend and I took a gamble on the hopeful news and bought tickets to the Dec 1 game vs the Ducks today so we are just wondering if they will totally rearrange the schedule or if our tickets should still be good.

Apparently the story was that the whole schedule would be redone if less than 82 games were played.....but that seems like a lot of work. I would hope that playing the last 65-72 games scheduled would only require minor tweaks to maintain divisional matchups.

NHLPA has apparently proposed three year decline to 50-50 with Make Whole covering the losses from there on. They also want greater revenue sharing burden on the richer teams. No way in hell it's accepted.

The best hope is that there's a counterproposal, it's sane, and the discourse remains civil.

It would be redone. No East-vs-West match-ups.

Its not coincidence that they didn't get serious until games were cancelled, paycheques missed and the big outdoor game cancelled.

Talking alone will do nothing. Unless there is a willingness to compromise - nothing would have happened. And the willingness to compromise from entrenched positions only came as a result of loss of monies.

there is no way that the NHL accepts a deal that takes 3 years to get down to 50-50.... when you add in the fact that they want the rich teams to put a LOT more into revenue sharing AND they don't want to budge on the player contract portions of the old CBA, well.... you get the idea

players are dreaming in technicolor if they think the NHL will ever accept that

Probably this

He followed that with this tweet.

The point of the last tweet was let's see where things are at the end of this day and not jump to any conclusions on partial info.
I am listening to Bob and waiting till there is more to go on. That is why I asked if that post was based on info or feeling.

And there's this.

League's response to NHLPA on Make Whole today perhaps biggest moment yet in this thing... Make or break
I don't trust the NHL and NHLPA to actually get things done once the discussions get semi-serious. These marathon meetings are a damage control response to intensifying fan discontent. That's all they are.

If the tweets some are sending out are to be believed the NHL have increased their revenue sharing offer by 20m since their original proposal.

So the NHL offered to go from 180m in their original proposal to 200m.

And the PA have asked for them to go from 240m in their original proposal to 260m.
