it comes off the cap, because he signed the deal before the was 35 ( i think) and he gets paid from insurance i think, so I'm not sure the insurance covers 100 percent of the contract though.

Then why has his team played 14 games, and he has only played in 1?

Because anything Rick says on the internet must be true.

Hope this is true and he just isn't getting playing time because of his poor performance for now...

Would hate to see him injured again...

This is a small story from a german newspaper which had sent some reporters to a training session of the SC Riessersee.

Sorry for my bad english but i will try to translate it correctly

"After the training session Rick DiPietro was standing in front of his goal and was just watching at the ice for a long time. Suddenly he began to hit his hockey stick on the ice again and again until the stick broke"

I think this says a lot about his feelings at the moment.

shop vacs suck everything? hmm.....I have no idea. What is the answer?

I hope it's NOT that they're both in my garage collecting dust until I need it. Then I'll rely heavily on it.

This should be a larger concern than an injury (from a hockey perspective). Chapin has indicated this league he's in is ECHL level - and if Rick's HEALTHY and NOT PLAYING, what possible prayer is there that he can play in the NHL?!

If he's involved, you know there's a mess.
He sits in storage for 15 years, rarely used.
He can't handle the corners.
He's made in America, whereas the best ones come from Europe.
He breaks down right after the warranty ends.
Even when he works, he does nothing but suck.

Not a larger concern...if he fails to produce it is a concern for sure but at least something measurable and statistically viable. An injury is not. Don't be silly...that's like saying what possible prayer does an ECHL player have of playing in the NHL. You should read what you write...

In related news, the amnesty buyout has made its way back into CBA discussions. Unfortunately I don't know how to directly link a specific tweet, but here it is:

Adam Proteau ‏(@Proteautype):

"As @NYP_Brooksie [Larry Brooks] reports, amnesty buyouts are now on the negotiating table at NHL labor talks. This has been rumored to be coming for years."

If he was a 21 year old trying to break into the NHL, and was struggling in the AHL, relegated to the ECHL, then struggled there, I would still think there is little hope of him making the NHL.

Add many years of countless surgeries and an inability to recover, stay remotely healthy, compete at an ECHL level, or even make the team - that's worse than statistically not measurable.

You know what else ant measurable? Retirement,

I've been the biggest DP supoorters on this board and feel like he should be given every chance to get back healthy. But now we have a player who looks like he simply can't play anymore.

If you can't see that, you aren't looking.

SC Riessersee just won their game 12-0 against Peissenberg. DiPietro was in net and looks like he made it through the entire game.

That's what I thought...but SC Riessersee's facebook page was giving updates on a game today and in the comments, said DiPietro was in net. Maybe it was a scrimmage or something? I dunno.

It's hard to tell since I'm not getting very good translations...

https://www.facebook.com/scriessersee?fref=ts

EDIT: Looks like it was a "friendly" game or scrimmage.

Quote:
The SC Riessersee will take place tomorrow, Thursday and again on Friday the training complete a friendly match at Bayern division in Peißenberg (19.30 clock). There, the team at full strength, that also compete with new signing Adam Henrich and the NHL players. "The Peienberg worked very hard to make this game and made everything possible for us to compete with you. The reward will be that many come many viewers and thus the TSV Peißenberg supported. I also believe that our fans from across the Oberland come to this game, but also because everyone wants to see new signing Adam Henrich and play as often not current NHL players in Peißenberg, "says CEO Ralph Bader.

For the raffle donated the SC Riessersee ever a jersey of the NHL players and two VIP season tickets for the rest of the season in the 2nd Hockey League.

I've acknowledged poor performance but once again if you are going to look at 1 game in a German league (even though I thought he had played 2) and decide he can't compete then I will just stop having this conversation. I have admitted that DP was not an NHL quality goaltender in the few games he was healthy last season. He was quite poor. However I have the common sense to not decide his quality at this level based on 1 ECHL game. You will not convince me otherwise so you probably shouldn't try.

http://www.scriessersee.de/saison/spielerstatistik.html

The unofficial website for his Germany team still has him playing one game as well.

And he was supposedly "hurt" around the first week of Nov.

So, here we are 20 plus days later and he still hasn't played.
