Great news. Jerry Sloan is my guess.

Way too early IMO.

Hopefully they hire D'Antoni. As a basketball fan it would be fun to watch their offense. As someone who hates the Lakers, it would also be fun to watch them fail with his all offense and no defense style in the playoffs.

You mean _'Antoni right?

I think the Lakers would be silly to hire him. His teams have proven that they can't get too much success in the playoffs. I don't think it works.

Well rumor had it Sloan was holding out for this job as he thought it had a good chance to be available so we'll see.

We'll see if they contact Brian Shaw from the Pacers. He had a falling out with the Lakers front office, but IIRC, Kobe wanted him for the job.

Remember when I set the over/under at three weeks? Well, it seems like the under has won, hahaha. I was saying that half-jokingly and I ended up being right. Don't know what to think about the move though. Brown was a **** coach, but at the same time, starting over in season, that doesn't seem like such a good idea.

Shaw would be the perfect guy for the job

And Kobe has mad respect for Shaw; even as a player, he was in Kobe's face

As for Pringles ....

Knee replacement surgery expected to keep Mike D'Antoni unable to coach until late December, league source tells Y! Sports.

Lakers are dumping Princeton offense, sources tell Y! Sports. "This (firing) was about the offense, more than anything else," source says.

Popovich on Brown firing:
'from outside looking in he never had a chance to put the team together; that's pretty obvious to anybody'

The Princeton offense was stupid. It reduced Nash to being primarily a spot-up shooter. Give him the ball and let him distribute. Let him do pick and rolls/pick and pops with Howard and Gasol. This is where Nash is most effective.

SVG on Brown's firing:

Quote:
Former Magic coach Stan Van Gundy called the Lakers' firing of Mike Brown on Friday, "the most ridiculous firing in the history of the NBA."
Quote:
Van Gundy told the Sentinel that Brown's dismissal was "absurd," adding, "Why did they bring him back? They changed the entire staff, changed his offense, got two new players (Dwight Howard and Steve Nash), have had guys hurt since day 1 and gave him five games to get it going."

I think their defense is worse than their offense.

Popovich is going to defend one of his guys..no surprise

But anyone that paid attention to Mike Brown in Cleveland knew he didn't have much of a clue outside LeBron James.

Might as well throw in the towel. No way they can recover from a 1-4 start with only 77 games left. Way to overreact LA

Anyway, Kobe, I'd like to introduce you to my friend Mr. Sloan.

I don't think it's an overreaction. There are lots of good coaches out there. Taking preseason into account the Lakers are 1-12 with no progress made offensively or defensively.
