Eberle has far more value than anyone else in the trade. I'd say no as an Oiler fan.

(Others might be just as good players but taking into account contract and age, Eberle is easily the most valuable AINEC)

Trade would never happen, if Jbow was 1.5m cheaper, Lou was only signed 3 more years and Iggy had an extension, the value isn't that far off

I have no idea who Musil is, but Edm receiving a 1st pairing dman and one of the best goalies in the league for Eberle plus what I assume is sort of an upper-mid level prospect doesn't sound bad at all. From a Flames perspective (ignoring the fact that I'd be pooping on a lot of doorsteps if Iginla was traded to Van or Edm) I'd rather have Hall than Eberle.

Not me, Eberle's heart and soul, reminds me of Recchi. I think he'd be the perfect line mate for Baertschi moving forward.

Would it be more or less appealing to Oiler's fans if it was Gio, instead of Jbow

What's with all the crazy 3 way deals lately?

When is the last time a three way deal with this many big names went down? The 80's maybe?

So that would make the deal...

Van-
Jarome Iginla
Shawn Horcoff
Greg Nemisz

Edm-
Mark Giordano
Roberto Luongo
Zack Kassian

Cal-
Jordan Eberle
Keith Ballard
Manny Malhotra
David Musil
Think I'd still do it

The Canucks sure get a raw deal. Calgary gets an absolute gifthorse.

But just remembered Hall and Eberle are actually still on ELCs so Ovechkin actually costs more then both of them

Well, most people would prefer Ovechkin to Eberle, but the main point was that just because a player is underachieving doesn't mean they're bad players(Jaybo is still a solid top pairing defenseman) and that Luongo is neither overpayed nor underachieving.

Again, not knowing who Musil is, Calgary gives up their top defenceman and their franchise forward (old, yes, but still franchise) for Jordan Eberle (a young first line winger of moderate effectiveness), a defenceman who no Canucks fan actually wants to keep on their team, and a guy who used to be an effective checking centre but has declined due to injury.

Which part of that makes it a gifthorse?

I think Edmonton actually ends up with the most value at the end of the day, but it's perfectly understandable why they wouldn't do it.

If Jbow got paid a couple mill less and Lou only had 3 years left teams would be having bidding wars over them but it is a cap world. That being said Scott Gomez might not be bad at 800k either lol

I also wouldn't say OV is the best player in the NHL, but he's the highest paid player, hence overpayed.

Iginla is old. Great player but on the decline good value probably get a nice package for him but him end overpaid, underachieving Bowmeester wouldn't get Eberle alone let alone somehow swing Manny, Ballard and a good prospect like Musil in the process.

Manny, Ballard are cap dumps at this point, most Van fans wouldn't argue that. Iggy doesn't get that alone, it's a 3 way addressing needs, from an Edmonton standpoint it's a young star player, a good prospect and 5.5 mill cap dump for a top pairing d-man, a number 1 goalie and a big borderline elite prospect.

I see it as 1.5 years of Bouwmeester at $6.6m, nearly $50m for a 33 year old Luongo, and a prospect.

Calgary needs a center, clearly. They could also use prospects. How about Gagner and Hamilton for Beartschi? Meets Calgary's needs...
