Of course you're not going to get anything on ESPN about the lockout. Comparing it to the NFL coverage is ridiculous; ESPN just doesn't cover the NHL, period. As for the NHL Network, it's owned by the league. What do you expect?
I get ESPN but NFL network coverd the NFL lockout more than ESPN did anyway.
I always laugh when fans get mad at players' agents, as if an agent is doing something a player doesn't want him to do.
hey, we need to establish what is the point when both are nervous? whats your guess...mine has always been next week so we shall see- after that they are getting into 48ish or less games unless they play every other day, doubleheaders, drag out Cup until July so I think its take a crap or get off the pot. I guess they could be like the NBA and go till around Christmas but those guys in that game admit to being stoned most of the time and I'm not sure you can play in the NHL with that 'type of buzz'
Yes, it was all Ference, nobody else. Such power! And of course there was no reason whatsoever for what happened. Just one big power trip. For Andy Ference.
I thought Fehr worked for the players and not the other way around
He does but the players hired him due to his track record of a hard nosed pain in the arse negotiator for a reason. The entire thing has reached its ridiculous stage. Get it done like business people. Hammer out a deal and get back to hockey. Fans are getting to their boiling point as winter is coming and thats hockey season.
Issue is Fehr is a hired gun. There is zero incentive for him to back down and give an inch. He is being paid to get the best deal he can period. He doesnt care if it takes 5 days, 5 months or 5 years. The longer it takes the better it is in the eyes of Fehr as it makes him look more like a tough negotiator and worth the insane amount I am sure he is paid.
Players were still suffering butt hurt when they hired him...
Is anything that was said in this memo unfair at ALL?
Same thing I've heard since the start of this whole process. The players are expected to make 100% of the concessions - and the fans expect them to just take it.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that Fehr led the MLB players through a strike and a cancelled World Series to understand that the guy doesnt care about the fans or the sport. Granted its a lockout by the owners but the players selected a rep that has now guided two sports through work stoppages. If Fehr is involved its going to be long and drawn out.
Pretty sad that the NBA and NFL both get deals done but the NHL and thier PA most likley sit in a room and not even talk.
Surprised fans have not gatherd in front of the building and started to throw rotten tomatoes.
Did you follow the NFL and NBA lockouts? Both of them were more nastier than the NHL lockout has been so far. Maybe it doesn't get nasty. The NFL lockout took up the entire off season. The NBA lockout took up their entire off season and it wasn't settled until the night after Thanksgiving. Decertification of the union. Lawsuits. Court battles. Nothing like that happened in the NHL lockout.

Wow, did I hit a nerve? Just going off the eye witness accounts of that night.
And what's with the punchy attitude? Its just a hockey message board, afterall.
Because Dupont was butthurt about his BFF Kelly getting fired and has demonized Ference ever since. Kelly good, Ference bad. I really, really doubt it's that simple - IMHO the entire story has yet to come out, and God knows if it ever will - and I'm sick and tired of people assuming it is.

Ok, I see your point. True story might not be out there. Fair enough. but considering the subject matter and how unimportant all this is in the grand scheme, I think it's reasonable to go with the only reports that are out there.
Also, you seem pretty agitated. Have you tried yoga? Or maybe just a general focus on healthy eating and exercise. Can do wonders for one's perspective and outlook.

Honestly, I haven't a clue. I'd love nothing more than to have a sit-down with Shawn Thornton and get his unfiltered POV, but that's certainly not happening. Absent that, I'll just wait, like everyone else.

Yeah, Artemis. Ya ever try eating a ****in' salad, you sourpuss??
Brutal.
I'd actually be interested in hearing more of the story on Kelly. Seemed like a good cat, but he must have crossed the line something severe to get the boot like he did.
Michael Russo @Russostrib
Sources: #NHL perplexed #NHLPA did not inform players they are willing to go 50/50 and "Make Whole" every cent + interest by Year 3

@Russostrib can u please explain further?
The thing that makes me the most angry about all this are the people directly affected by the lockout I'm not happy about not being able to see hockey, but it's nothing compared to how angry I am for the little guys that rely on these games and there being a season to feed their families
